Visiting Albuquerque and wanting BBQ. Although this place was middle of the range in ratings, we liked its story. Small plaza end restaurant. Smoker out front to see the process. The BBQ was no better than any place else, but the POTATO SALAD and FRIED PICKLES were the best we ever had— especially the pickles. Super nice counter lady where you order. One of the owners was there, saw us, but never even acknowledged us— and at this time, we were only ones in restaurant. Would make a special trip for the pickles only. Glad we had the experience of this little dive but will not come back for BBQ.

Hot mess is a new and great soul food place in Albuquerque. They have excellent smoked meats. The sides are great as well.I love the southern greens, baked beans coleslaw, macaroni & cheese, and sweet potatoe pie.A great place to come back to with staple food for the community. For Us & By Us.

Wow! What an amazing restaurant. I am from Georgia and have very high standards for barbecue and this restaurant blew me out of the water! From the perfectly cooked okra to the tender brisket I am floored. I will definitely be frequenting this restaurant and highly recommend it to everyone!

Great FOOD! The 3 men were tearing it up, Nice and great customer service. The young lady running the register needs to smile and take a class in people skills. But don't let that ruin your experience! The Food is great.
