Having been to a lot of DOE site's on-site cafeterias, I can say this one is fantastic.

For a workplace eatery, this place is pretty awesome. Their daily options are good and their specials are usually fun and tasty. Really responsive to requests and suggestions. Sometimes add-ons seems a little pricy, but the standard prices are reasonable.Vegetarian options: Many, plus salad barDietary restrictions: They allow full customization

We enjoy the view from the restaurant. We visited Santa Fe for an overnight trip and decided to eat at the restaurant. We both enjoyed the steak & enchiladas and the silver angel drink (Margarita with Tito” vodka). The view was great from the balcony! Snow on the Plaza and Christmas lights for the holidays.

This is the first review I ever wrote, but I felt the need to do this in order to save others from the terrible experience we encountered while dining at Thunderbird bar & grill!!!! Our server Clarissa was very unprofessional, & incredibly rude! She had the AUDACITY to chase us downstairs and ask my boyfriend for her tip and told us that she doesn’t forget faces & to never ever come back to her restaurant since we didn’t tip her! He thought gratuity was already included but i guess it wasn’t. We have gone to numerous restaurants and have never been treated in this manner. She should either quit, get fired and let someone competent take over. We will never be back. We have never been so completely disrespected in our life.

The service was excellent. Food was average. We really liked our waiter. I ordered an old fashion which was not exciting. My husband had the Thunderbird punch which he enjoyed. We were disappointed with the calamari it came out as a heaping plate, but was mixed with various fried vegetables. I'm guessing this is a fun location in the summer since it has a balcony that looks out over the plaza.

Better than a McDonald's or a Chick-fil-A, but I'd never go except it's a far too convenient location and there aren't really any other options nearby.Parking: There technically is a parking lot, but if you're not there before 6am, there's little chance you'll find an open space. It's really just Sandia general parking, nothing reserved for the cafeteria. Maybe after lunch once some of the extra early birds have headed home you'll find an open slot.

This is a great location overlooking the plaza. The night we visited our server was very friendly and got us seated at the outdoor second floor. There was a band playing on the plaza and it was a great place to people watch. The menu offers a nice balance of Mexican & American foods - appetizers and full plates at reasonable prices.

Great views from the upper level patio! Our server was friendly and made a couple of good recommendations for drinks and appetizers. We'll be back!

The Thunderbird Grill definatlely provides Santa Fe's charm and beauty. Our family of 6 ate on the Balcony and had a great dinner. We went several times , not just for the meal but to experience the ambience of Santa Fe's Plaza. We all ate different meals each time and never disappointed. Our waiters, Willie and Noel only added to the service by showing courteous and freindliness. We noticed the Manager, Rick, worked with his Staff and could see the respect he had from his Staff. I didn't get the Chef's name but his meals were wonderfully delicous and pleasing to the eye!

The Margarita Shrimp Appetizer was amazing. Not sure why it’s an appetizer as it’s really more of a meal than a shareable. But who cares it was a 5+++.

We had 3 couples in our party. We were promptly seated but it did take quite some time for our waiter to show up. Finally Noel came. He is either completely clueless about everything on the menu and the drink menu, or he simply does not care. The ladies asked about different drinks and he just kept saying I don‘t know. My wife asked about flavored margaritas and he said any margarita could be flavored however you’d like. Turns out they added raspberry syrup to her Margarita and charged an extra $1.50. I asked about local beers and he said he would check with the bartender only to never give me a recommendation after all. Same went for all questions about the food. He would simply not give us an answer. The food finally arrived and it was average. But, here‘s the best part…He handed me the bill, $500, for the entire table. I said, this needs to be separated into three checks, each couple will be paying for their own. He said, „You never told me that.“ I replied, „You never asked.“ He then said, well you are going to have to pay the $70 gratuity since you were the last one to order. I said, why on earth would I pay that much of a tip? He said that is how they have always done it at this restaurant. Of course I about flew out of my seat. I asked for the manager and was told there is no manager there. I asked who is in charge and he said the bartender. So I went to the bar and explained what was going on and she did finally separate the checks. Avoid this place like the plague unless you want mediocre food and the possibility of getting ripped off. Watch your bill!

Came here for a drink and a snack. He had a Mojito and I had a house margarita and we split the Wedge salad. Nothing fancy or great about any of it, but it was nice being high up on the balcony at the park
