I was not a customer of Whiting during the previous ownership, and was a little skeptical after reading some of the recent reviews but decided to give them a try. Glad I did! I purchased 1lb of their espresso and it is delicious. It produces a rich crema when pulling shots and has a wonderfully full-bodied flavor. Maybe the new owners had growing pains when they took it over, but it seems to me like they’ve dialed it in. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. Give them a try!

Beans 4-5 stars. Very good flavor.

Price 3 stars. Twice as expensive as a bag of Pete’s or Starbucks, for example. Yes, I realize this is a specialty store.

Customer service. 2 stars. The guys up front are not friendly or helpful. In comparison, the guy who owns the seafood market at the other end of the strip is super friendly and helpful. I stop by the seafood shop at least once a week just to support local business. Tough to support a coffee shop where you don’t feel welcome.

I wanted to try a local coffee roster, so I purchased a pound of the whole-bean French roast. What a mistake! Whiting needs to work out the nuance between a dark roast and a burnt bean, what I got tasted like ash. I used it in my garden, so not a total waste.

I’m still giving them a 5 start review because it was the best coffee around for a long time.

We live in Georgia and have been ordering from Whiting for almost 10 years. It’s the only coffee we would drink. It was such a nice mom & pop shop with the best dark roast beans! The bold flavor and taste in every cup was unmatched! We got our family and friends onto Whiting Coffee and everyone would order from them! We were excited with the new owner change because now we could order directly online (instead of ordering over the phone and paying by check). The coffee beans were still good after this change. However, within the past year, the roasting has definitely changed. We were told by a few people, and saw the most recent reviews, that the beans weren’t as good anymore. We still had our big batch of beans from our previous order, so we said we’ll order a new batch once we’re finished to see what everyone was talking about. Unfortunately, they were right. The roasting has changed significantly. You can tell it’s a light medium roast now. I feel like they are tailoring to the younger generation and majority of coffee drinkers now who don’t like a bold dark coffee. The coffee we brewed was still good, but you could tell the bean color was different. It lacked that WOW factor and PUNCH of flavor that used to differentiate Whiting Coffee from all other roasters. Now they just taste like any other roaster. What used to be worth the price of the beans and shipping all the way to Georgia is no longer. Now we’re all on a mission to find another roaster in New Mexico that gave us the same delicious taste and excitement that Whiting Coffee did, but so far we haven’t had any luck. I really hope this was just a random fluke that happened this past year and they can go back to how they used to roast when Norm was around or at least offer a selection of beans like the good ole days.

as a whiting customer for over a decade, I was drawn to Norms incomparable method of roasting which gave his coffee a unique flavor profile and aroma that just exceeded anything I have ever experienced.

since the new owner has taken over, the roast has gone down the toilet, the small, family vibe is no longer, and worst of all the coffee has become a yuppie filtered corporatized knock off of the original ”NORMS” roast. its very saddening to know that such a top shelf product has become mediocre at best!!! nothing against the front staff, Victor is a top notch, underpaid employee that deserves a standing ovation for his customer service!

Hands down my favorite coffee shop in town. There is no close 2nd place for me even though there are other good shops in town and I've been to most. Staff is extremely cool and unpretentious, which is not the coffee shop norm, and the coffee is great. Both of these facts keep me driving 3 miles out of my way regularly, even though a decent shop is 100 yards away from the front door of my workplace. Swing by, you won't be disappointed!

This used to be the best coffee in town under the prior ownership. Since they were retired and it sold, it has become very erratic, both in service and in roast. If you’re an old Whitings customer and like a full city roast, this may not be for you. It is now much lighter and the service is a little grumpy. They’re probably having to deal with a number of people like me who are disappointed with the change, but they could learn a little bit about customer service.

Been going to Whiting’s for 25 years. Norm sold it a couple years ago and quality has been going down and prices skyrocketing. They charge $16.50 for a pound of over-roasted coffee but don’t advertise the new price. Also they ask for a tip on pre filled bags of mediocre coffee. Don’t bother.

Honestly I would never return to this coffee shop. My first experience, Victor I think his name is, was extremely rude and unprofessional to me and I witnessed his demeaning behavior toward coworkers and I wouldn't ever put my money toward a business that allows that in front of guests and overall bullying behavior.

Bring back the old way you roasted coffee. I used to buy Papua New Guinea which was roasted longer, bringing out the oils and an intense chocolate smell and lowering acidity. That's how a south pacific coffee should be. The new roasting results in dry, light, high acidity coffee beans that smell like dry wood. The coffee looks and smells exactly like Kirkland's coffee except it twice as expensive. I had to change all my settings on my espresso machine for these new beans and the amount of crema is nowhere near of what it used to be. I used to drive extra distance just to get the PNG coffee, but that will not happen anymore. I can buy better coffee at Walmart.

Have been buying coffee here since 1985ish. Guatemalan. Just got 6#'s and it is NO where near the rich quality it had before "new" owner. Sent them a message about this, got nothing. Really sad to loose my best coffee bean place. Think they must be using cheaper beans or ??
I'm TOTALLY BUMMED

Excellent beans for sale here at good prices. A couple of tables outside to enjoy a very good "lungo" style espresso.

Excellent selection of coffee. There is a coffee shop. But the greatest thing about this place is their huge selection of coffee beans from around the world!9
