I've been going in after work early mornings and now they have a new rule closed to the public and they only service people who are in the motels in the area. Yet I was the only one asked that question and the other men who came it 3 sat right down and wasn't asked anything.

Looked like a cool place. We walked in and sat at a booth, and were given menus. Ordered two Pepsis…it took 20 minutes for our order to be taken. About 15 minutes after that, our Pepsis arrived. The waitress apologized…she was trying to handle all of the customers, the phone, the cooking-everything. Looking behind the counter…food all over the floor, soiled cutting boards-I could hear Jon Taffer just screaming if he came in. One waitress that worked there spent almost 30 minutes in the bathroom. She was of no help…she was complaining out loud about getting in trouble at work. She paid far more attention to her facial piercings. We saw a third employee walk out from the back multiple times. He never helped a customer or did much of anything. He filled his own Dr. Pepper twice and returned to the back. At one point, our waitress called in back to him to ask him to bring out some more bacon. He did…and the only way that guy could move slower is if time froze. This could be a cool, profitable and well-paying establishment. Obviously not run well at all. One girl trying to work, the other two just ripping the place off. If it were managed, clean, and they engaged a customer and took care of them, they would have a monopoly going. Really sad to see…worst business of any kind I have encountered in decades. Hoping we don’t get sick from the food-we should have left when we saw the floor and how soiled the counters, Walls, ceiling, and cutting boards were.

The service at Penny's was wonderful - bright, happy, welcoming. I felt very much at ease!
I ordered their western burger and fries with a shake. The fries were some of the best diner fries I've had in ages, the fry on them was so crisp! Alas, their kitchen was out onion rings (which go on the burger) BUT they substituted fried onions instead and it was an excellent choice, making a burger that tasted and looked like it came from a much fancier restaurant. The milkshake was ample and did not leave me feeling bloated like shakes sometimes do.
Penny's is on my list now every time I drive through New Mexico.
I love coming here the food is awesome and the wait staff are so friendly

I'm always traveling somewhere on my travel photo assignments. This time I brought my boys with me on my desert road trip. I love NM. Diner was awesome, food was freaking fantastic, fresh. When we're back, definitely coming back here. Staff is awesome etc

We were told that we couldn’t be served because we were not rail road employees! All my family are rail road employees im an employee and was treated like a slave .! Told to leave ! This penny’s dinner is the most disgraceful place to eat I would never eat there again and sorry to say that the cook is too lazy to prepare the meals and is not certified to handle cooking any meals ! Pennys diner is and should close their doors disgusting!

I am so confused with all these comments. So I'm not the one to judge a restaurant on the first try. So I took some friends there, took the waitress 30 minutes to come to our table just tell us she's getting off now that we would have to wait for the cook because she was the only that would be serving for a bit. 10 minutes later the cook comes over and ask what would like no smile or anything. So I ordered French toast. She tells me the stove is not working. I'm thinking then why are you open. So I ordered chicken and waffles. She said ok. She could make chicken and waffles but not French toast. Finally got our meal. I'm thinking maybe they had a bad day. 3 weeks go by which was yesterday and I decided to take my kiddos. There was only two tables and they already had their food but there was different staff. The waitress took 15 minutes to take our order and get our drinks. I'm cool. This time 40 minutes goes by. I get up to ask the cook how much longer. She was in the little room on her phone. I'm like ok. She said ours was the last order. So I told the waitress we were going to leave. She said, she didn't blame us. So we left. I'll never go back.
