Meh! Nah! My son was looking forward to trying this place out, we tried it, we both got the small steak, I'd say it was okay, nothing special, customer service the same, our waitress never came to refill our drinks, and we were the only 2 in there, it seems that is now extinct in NM eaterys! The atmosphere was boring, I definitely wouldn't go again.

I just celebrated my 67th birthday there with my daughter and Son-in-law law. The steaks were excellent, the baked potato, vegetables, and soups and salad superb. The chocolate cake for dessert was to die for. 5 stars! 3rd time there!

This place is very expensive for a poor quality and quantity of food. The steaks were definitely overcooked. Hair in the veggies. The steaks in the loaded potatoes were not seasoned and very fatty, food came out cold. Food is bland had to over salt my food to taste it. Only ate a fourth of my plate and couldn't do it anymore with the amount of fatty pieces and lack of season. The service was great, the server was nice and the fried zucchini was good but that was probably it from this whole experience. I will not be going back.

For a small local steakhouse restaurant with limited seating, the food is more than just appetizing and tasty. Great menu offerings with not only steak, but seafood and burgers too. As well as local fare and appetizers too. A little bit expensive, but what isn't expensive for the past 5 years. Simply, not too expensive. Great for single service, couples and small friends groups and family gatherings. Great food!

It's always a great experience at Varela's. The food is outstanding and the service is always so friendly and caring. I appreciate this business. I can't believe it's not more busy!! Love this place!

For a steak house they could really use some work on their cooking skills and knowledge of doneness. The steaks were very dry and hard. I ordered 2 steaks medium well and they were exceedingly underwhelming and inedible. We spent over $40 on 2 orders that were not even steak house worthy. Even vegitables were not good they were burned and slimy. Unhappy . 🙁
