Was really looking forward to our Valentines dinner here at the rails. The Caesar salad was good. The lobster bisque had imitation crab meat and lobster. I could smell it, was okay but could be better if it was real crab and lobster. The steak had a weird taste on the outside, maybe like they used a gas grill? Hard to explain but it wasn’t pleasant. The mashed potatoes were instant potatoes and we had 4 asparagus. The roll was hard but the dessert was good. The presentation was nice but that’s about it. We had only water, not even ice in the water. Wine I guess is the only thing they serve? No coke? Dr pepper ? Tea? Just wine or room temperature water? Weird. I was very disappointed that it cost $97.50 per person for Valentines dinner. I thought that was the price for both. I couldn’t believe it to be honest. If I’m paying $100 a person I’d like to be able to pick what I want to eat not what they tell us to eat. We didn’t get to pick how we want our meat cooked because well, it’s already made because they were expecting a large crowd. But so is Roadhouse, and Red Lobster and Cotton Patch. But they sure didn’t tell you this was your only choice. I also booked online. Got the confirmation and for some reason they couldn’t find our name on the list so they made me prove to them that I really did do it online. I was shocked! Glad I saved that email! With all that said, this place is overrated, way to expensive, and not worth it. I won’t ever be back. I like numbers so I did the easy math and figured it cost the restaurant $20ish dollars for a small salad, fake crab and lobster, 6 ounce flavorless and outside nasty taste to the steak, 4 asparagus and fake mashed potatoes and a dessert. They sure did bank off that night, good for them! I won’t be back to give them another dime. Very disappointed for sure! I will certainly share my experience with others and would not recommend this to anyone. Gotta do better than that if you choose to charge people the way you do!

Dinner was a total of $220 for two people. We ordered the tomahawk steak with two lobster tails special, spicy calamari, and creme brulee. To start with the calamari had no flavor to it much less being "spicy" and it was chewy. Then came the lobster which was tough, overcooked, and warm at best. The steak had large amounts of fat, it was tough, and it was not medium. The fries and the mashed potatoes were the only quality food of this experience, I mean the fries seriously may have been the best fries I have ever had in my life.

Service-wise there were 5 tables of people in the entire place and a number of wait staff, but I think we only saw her three times. The best service came from the bus boy who was the one who brought us water, took places, got refills, and brought us to go boxes. I didn't leave the waitress a great tip because her service was terrible, but as we were leaving I was looking for the busboy to give him $50 cause of his hard work.

The atmosphere, the place could be an elegant experience, but when the staff turns on the fan and openly say, "its to keep the flies away from your food" and you turn it off so it doesn't make the already lukewarm food colder. Ditch the fans, get rid of the flies, and turn down the train noises constantly coming from the restrooms.

Honestly feel this place is overrated. I've tried it a few times now, with some time in between, and still leave feeling the same. No issues with the service, but I've not been at all impressed with the food.

I appreciate that it gives us an opportunity to have a "nice" dinner, and the atmosphere is pleasant, but again... it's just the food. And it's a tad pricey, considering. I can't say that I'd plan to go back. If I did, it would be to join others, not by my own choice.

Espresso martini wasn't bad, though!

A great place for a date night. Me and the better half went here and enjoyed every bit. The service was great, our waitress was attentive but not overbearing. Food and drinks were brought quick enough. Nothing was rushed and everything was delicious. In a town known for the railroad being right on the tracks was really fun. Seeing trains start/stop and go on by was a great scenic oddity. Would recommend if you are in town.

We have been here multiple times. Be sure to visit before it is too dark outside, as the lighting is very dim inside. The staff are friendly and always on top of drinks. The meals are also quick to appear at the table. The menu is limited, so it’s easy to know what you’re going to order ahead of time. We have had several mishaps with our steak either being too rare or too well done. The last time we were there, my wife’s steak was very charred on one side and tasted the way it looked. The manager quickly apologized and sent it back to the chef. I would also think the deserts would be better for a restaurant of this caliber.

My husband & I can’t get enough of this place. The food is wonderful. We love how they change up their menu so we are constantly able to try new dishes. The service is fast & the drinks are great. You don’t want to skip out on the appetizers & desserts as well. 10/10 recommend.

We just showed up at the rails, Sunday at 1:20pm and we were not allowed in, though it says that they close at 2pm. We were only 2 persons. Bad bussines I think

The Rails, where have you been all my travels? This is THE local gem. I'm actually furious I didn't find it earlier in my time in Clovis. I was beginning to get very depressed on this business trip here. But now, I'm actually smiling! The wine list is perfection, and very reasonably priced (hi, Austin Hope way out here! Paso deliciously representing here!).Needless to say, the food is delicious. A++++. Best food in Clovis, and the only place to get wine. I only snapped a picture of the coconut cheesecake, which is just how like cheesecake - a little chunky, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced. I will be here every single night for dinner, and I hear they have brunch on Sundays. The building is a beautiful historic building dating back to 1907 - the oldest in Clovis. The bar is also beautifully designed, it is really such a pleasure to be here. The service really can't be beat either, everyone has checked in on me. I feel so special!
