Unfortunately every course was undercooked stating with the pork belly. I reserved sending it back because I didn’t want my wife to feel like I wasn’t enjoying the meal. My wife provided me a bite of her stuffed (pork) chicken breast and it was also cold. I couldn’t take it anymore when my “medium” ribeye was presented basically rare. I sent it back and it subsequently came back medium rare. At that point I was done and $150 down the drain. Also, woke up with diarrhea and I never have stomach issues.

I wish it was better. I made reservations a few weeks ago through Open Table and then I called because I didn’t get an email about it. I spoke to a women, made the reservation, and we even discussed we were celebrating a birthday. However, when we arrived there was no reservation!! 😮 We were seated out in the patio which was lovely but the metal chairs were awful and uncomfortable. The kind of discomfort that makes you think they want you to eat and run. There were 4 people. We started with Root Tacos. The celery root was inedible. Every plate had the celery root uneaten but the tacos were delicious anyways. Disappointing. We ordered a salad, only one, it looked beautiful and it tasted good but it could’ve used a sweet element like blueberries or candied nuts. There were edible fresh flowers that made the plate look so pretty. Aside from the flowers it was just Spring mix & dressing for $16. For dinner we ordered Sea bass, stuffed chicken breast, the blueberry infused pasta, and a rib eye. The sea bass was mostly good. The chicken was delish on first bite, but as it turned to room temperature it ended up being dry and only half was eaten. The infused pasta sounded good but it was just okay, most of it left uneaten. The Ribeye was a big hit! Medium rare, which is closer to rare than medium. The entire plate was the best choice! We were celebrating a birthday and agreed on the sounded delicious very chocolate cake. IT WAS SO DRY, AND THE CAKE TASTED LIKE NOTHING, WHICH SEEMED TO THE LEFT PIECE FROM THE CAKE THAT WAS MADE YESTERDAY. It was so disappointing that there were four people and we left have the piece. We each had a cocktail, a 2 people had a glass of wine. The bill was $370, with tip it was $440. When the food is an experience, the money doesn’t matter. This dinner was more of a flop than a meal to rave about. We discussed how many other things we could’ve bought for $440, like plane ticket, it was a huge disappointment for 2 out of 4.

The flavors and quality of the food were absolutely incredible. We ordered the chickpea fries, celery root tacos, the duck appetizer, & the stuffed chicken - all were fabulous dishes. The celery root tacos had flavors that were out of this world!!!!

Our only qualm with the restaurant/only hesitancy to not return is that it took over 2 hours to get out 4 plates. I think they need to work on the timing of the courses/getting food out of the kitchen faster.

Service was great otherwise - our waiter was awesome!

A Bold New Chapter at Forty Nine Forty – Where Culinary Art Meets Corrales Charm

There’s a quiet revolution unfolding in the heart of Corrales. Forty Nine Forty has quietly undergone a transformation, and now, with Chef Jonathan Perno—a name synonymous with excellence in New Mexico’s culinary scene—working his magic and stepping into a whole new era of flavor and finesse.

Locals will recognize Perno from his work at one of the state’s most iconic restaurants. At Forty Nine Forty, he brings that same artistry to a refreshed menu that’s already turning heads. The Dry-Aged Ribeye is simply unforgettable—tender, deeply flavorful, and finished with a cascabel demi-glace that whispers smoky sophistication. Paired with delicious aligot and roasted asparagus, it’s the kind of dish that defines a great night out.

Then there’s the Burger 4940, a revelation in comfort cuisine. With roasted green Chile, creamy Muenster cheese, and house-made pickles on a soft Kaiser bun, it captures everything we love about New Mexican flavors—bold, balanced, and irresistibly craveable.

The setting remains warmly familiar, and you can feel magic in every plate, every pour, and every moment spent under the soft lights of the dining room.

This destination restaurant in Corrales is small, so best to reserve early. Very good food. Great cocktails. Wine list is not extensive, though.

We waited over 30 minutes to order. It’s like we didn’t exist. Poor service. Drink was good but unlikely we’ll return or recommend. They were out of a side that I tried to order. Also they make you order everything at one time. Which if you’re waiting 30 minutes to order would have been nice to have something hold us over. Appetizer was super salty. An hour later and still no main entrees. Once entrees did arrive they were also salty and were again out of a side that they didn’t tell me about. Disappointed.

My husband and I went for dinner last night for his birthday and had an amazing time. The service was great, all of the recommendations were on point. The food was the best locally we’ve had in a long time. And the cocktails were delicious! So many times I’m disappointed in the quality for the price, and this was not the case. We absolutely will be back!

We were really looking forward to a date night. With both our schedules and a kid in the mix, they're difficult to come by. But, unfortunately, we didn't have the best experience considering the money spent on dinner.
We made a reservation for 7:30 in the dining room. Arrived early and waited at the host stand for almost 15 minutes with absolutely NO ONE checking in. Then we had to wait more because apparently the guests at the table they had for us were taking a while longer. Fine, whatever. We didn't get seated until almost 7:50.

We were expecting a quieter experience but with wood floors, drywall, and metal ceilings, we couldn't hear each other talking. We were tucked into a corner table next to a 6 top that was LOUD . It pretty much ruined the evening.
Our server was very nice. My only complaint is that after she took our drink orders, she disappeared for about 20 minutes before getting our food order. Again, reservation for 7:30, we didn't get our dinner until 8:45.
The seating on the marketplace side was so much quieter than in the dining room.
I'm not sure we'll be back. The food was good enough though that I might consider it for the seating outside the dining room, based on our experience.
Luckily, I had good company. But it would have been nice to hear him half the time we were talking because the seating arrangements in the dining room are poorly planned and there's NOTHING to dampen the sound.

Been here several times. Sometimes it is exceptional and sometimes average. Atmosphere in restaurant is outstanding, but I did not give it a five as outside seating is just okay. Cafe seating is above average but don’t like being sat there for dinner: want better for fine dining. Don’t mind it for coffee and pastries. Need to work on consistency in service and food.

Wildly overpriced! Everything on the menu is at least $10 more than it should be. Service was good but slow, we waited over an hour for our food. If they didn't overcharge for everything this place would be worth another visit.
