Be aware...the bar inventory is almost empty!! Not even ONE Coors beer of any kind!! The waitress gave us some lame excuse.. Very disappointed, had family in from out of town and wanted to treat them to a nice place..instead it was a joke! Get it together!! A good atmosphere doesn't serve a cold beer. That's the reason we didn't order food.

This is listed as a bar but it is much more than that. The Castaneda restaurant is open to the public and is one of the few upscale eateries in Las Vegas NM. The menu is very limited but gets it's insperation from the original Harvey hotel menu from the 1880s. We enjoyed our meal and time together over dinner.

Entree menu was limited and boring. We had two different dishes between us and they were both mediocre, and as far as I'm concerned definitely not worth the money we were charged for them. My recommendation is to stick to the appetizer menu. And oh yes, when they say your dish comes with coleslaw, expect a teeny little container with maybe a heaping tablespoon of coleslaw in it. And the slaw I had, I spit back out as it tasted so off to me. The waiter who I spoke to about this neither offered me any kind of salad, or dessert to make up for it, but like I said, it was barely a tablespoons worth! Both the salt and pepper shakers were empty as well. As few people as there were in the restaurant, there's no excuse for any of this. Very disappointed!!!

My parents and I were recommended the plaza but Castaneda was able to accommodate us. We had planned a dinner at the bar and it became more.The food was awesome! Carne (can't recall the 2nd word) fries was a massive appetizer. The smash burger, again salad and shrimp po boy were damn near perfect.Manager Franciso gave us the history of the hotel for 15mins. He was friendly and knowledgeable. After dinner he opened up the bottle room for us and talked about local distilleries. Then he let us have a night cap at the bar.This is an experience my family and I will remember and recommend. This is an experience of local flair and history.

The Castaneda is a staple of history in Las Vegas. You can see the craftsmanship in the wood throughout the hotel. This is one of the few places left in America that makes you feel like you are stepping back in time. Add some delicious food and drinks with impeccable service and you have a great night out. I highly recommend for date night as well. It really does feel like your somewhere else.
The food and drinks were top notch. Best fish and chips ever. Chef Sean Sinclair really knows what he’s doing! The margaritas are the best in New Mexico!

This place is amazing. Staff is super friendly. But the food, oh man, the food was fantastic! We ordered the chicken sandwich with fries and a green chile cheese burger with a house salad. They sound simple, but each item had amazing flavors that complimented each other. Everything was so light and tasty. Definitely have to stop here if you're coming from out of town.

My family likes to go out to breakfast. Inflation and Post "Covid" service often leaves us disappointed. NOT so with the Kin Castaneda Breakfast! Freshly squeezed orange juice, Home baked goods, free range eggs, high quality bacon, etc. Everything is prepared to perfection, and is a good value. The wait staff is friendly, and helpful and you can't beat eating in a Historic Harvey House dining room. Looking for a great culinary experience, or just a great piece of bacon. Look no further.
