It's very unfortunate that ownership/management feels they need to deceive their customers to make a buck. I ordered the carñe adovada stuffed sopapilla and the menu clearly states choice of protein and does not list any additional cost for doing so. If they need to charge an additional 5$ for carñe adovada that's fine however list that on your menu like every ethical restaurant on the planet. What makes the deception worse is that the stuffed sopapilla was 90% beans rather than a reasonable ratio of carñe adovada to beans. If you need to charge for chips and salsa also fine however charging for a side of salsa for a taco plate that should come with it. Dry tacos really who does that? My Wife's ground beef taquitos were also 90% beans. If nickel and dimeing customers is what you need to do then be honest and list all costs on your menu. These unethical practices explains why the restaurant was very slow on a Saturday evening.

They don’t give free chips and salsa, which is a standard for Mexican restaurants. We will never come back here again.!

Overall it was a poor experience. Service was mediocre from the minute we walked thru the doors and nobody greated us for 5 minutes. The food took forever to come out and was not good. They screwed up my order. A staff person mentioned there was a new cook. By the time my new order came out, we were ready to leave It was very embarrassing since I took out of town guests who ended up getting sick from the meal.

Even though the menu clearly stated complimentary chips and salsa with your order, we were informed that as of the 1st of the year, the management decided that chips and salsa would cost $4.95 per order. My philosophy has always been NEVER TRUST A MEXICAN RESTAURANT THAT CHARGES FOR CHIPS AND SALSA!

I didn't care for the fish tacos they were drowning in some kind of white sauce, the fajita taco was ok but not the best and it was expensive , that was the first time there and definitely my last!!!!!

My mom and I absolutely LOVE the Fresh Mushroom Appetizer, it is seriously to die for!!! Service is hit and miss honestly, sometimes it's wonderful but sometimes it's more than lacking unfortunately.

Hmmm… I fear to say El Bruno’s has gone downhill. For me, it’s the details that count. First thing I notice when walking in is, where’s the music? The silence paired with the not-so-welcoming host made for an awkward arrival. We had some problems with our waitress forgetting ordered items. The other woman (owner of manager I presume) was very kind to assist and make sure we got what we wanted. Drinks arrived, and some of the beers were warm. Food was nice. After making a trip to the bathroom, I took notice of the overall ambiance created by the lights, stained glass, curtains, and hand-crafted furniture. It’s a nice place in theory, but after discovering no locks on the stalls and vulgar language carved into the bathroom walls, my bubble of joy was popped.

This is the best New Mexican restaurant in Albuquerque, maybe in the state. I haven't found a restaurant with better chile. I especially love the red! You won't go wrong with the carnitas a la Mex. The beef is so tender! I order it with red and green on the side so I can choose my chile with each bite! Yummm!
