awesome food awesome staff
Wife and stepdaughter their 3/28/25 their drinks were drugged by locals from Madrid and Los cerrilos and brought to a ranch in Los cerrilos only to find in morning phones taken and bruises all over . Having to go to Santa Fe hospital in morning.
I've never gone back to this place. it was an amazing place, at one time. The food had hair cooked into the fries! The server never came back to check on me and offer anything. I only ate half the burger and left the fries after finding the hair. The server only came back to slam the bill on the table and left without saying a word. I pass tbrough Madrid all the time, but I'll never stop there again.

The Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina offers an eclectic, old west feel with a live stage in front of a vintage steam engine. The food is matched with the scenery, and the staff are attentive and intuitive. This establishment is located in the City of Madrid, famous for the movie Wild Hogs, and it has been a local watering hole for miners long before Hollywood fame. The restaurant features both a cantina side with outdoor seating and an older saloon side. It's a fun spot, especially on Memorial Day weekend, and the atmosphere is comfortable, feeling a bit from the 1800s. The restaurant is wheelchair-accessible, and the Blues festival with huge plates of crawfish, shrimp, and potato fries is fantastic.
Customers praise the restaurant's historic atmosphere and local music performances. The menu features delicious dishes like the Hatch bison burger with onion rings, fried chili, and the green chile cheeseburger. Visitors also enjoy the prickly pear margarita and appreciate the staff's knowledge of the surrounding art galleries and museums. Many find the green chile fried from Hatch a must-try. The Mine Shaft Tavern & Cantina is a great place to stop and enjoy the local charm along the Turquoise Trail, where excellent food, ales, and wandering musicians create a fun vibe.
