This is a must visit. We make sure to go out of our way several times a year to get their green chile cheeseburger. We also like the fried artichoke hearts as an appetizer. Great place.

I dont think this place could have hired more actively rude and shitty people if they tried. Abhorrently, unnecessarily rude reception and staff… all for subpar food at a jacked up price. #neveragain

Magical Green Chili Cheeseburgers. Cold beer, green chili stew. Live music capped off a great late Sunday lunch.

Really crowded. (So was the whole town). Couldn't get very close to the band. Nice day. Sat outside.

We were seated by our server quickly, requiring just a brief wait since the restaurant was busy. She was awesome. Took care of our every need. The burgers were some of the best we have had! The Angus beef option was very tender and tasty. The atmosphere reminds my of an old western tavern and saloon. The Mine Shaft Tavern is a mainstay in Madrid and worth the drive from surrounding areas. We were in a 100 mile motorcycle ride to support awareness for Soldier Suicide Prevention. The Mine Shaft was a great stop!! A great value for the quality of food and excellent personal service offered by the serving staff.

Always a beautiful pleasure to visit this place. Great vibes and the food creates wonderful memories of gathering with those I love. Green chile fried from hatch is a must try!

Wanna escape your life even for a few hours? There is always a slightly mysterious but very casual and funky groove not only to Madrid but definitely the Mineshaft Tavern that will take you away from the doldrums. Throw in the excellent food, ales, and wandering musicians matching the vibe and you have yourself a right little mental vacation. Be patient with the service-this is a small town and they will get to you. Love this bar and the escape it gives.

Located in the City of Madrid - made famous by the movie Wild Hogs (because it brings so many people to Madrid now!).

But this establishment well preceded Hollywood fame as a local watering hole for miners.

This restaurant has the a cantina side (with outdoor seating) and the older saloon side.

Food was very good. Enjoyed the fried Chili appetizer . The burgers were very large and delicious. Given you are in New Mexico, all the burgers come with green or hatch chili’s.

Comfortable old time atmosphere that feels a bit from the 1800’s.

You will enjoy it.
