We go to the Mine Shaft Tavern about once a month. It's a pretty drive, and the restaurant is great. They have delicious burgers, Wagyu steak and enchiladas, and green chile stew. My go to cocktail is the Prickly Pear Margarita.....it's tad bit sweet with just the right amount of sour! Off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Took the trip out from Santa Fe to try the famous “#1 Green Chile Burger”. I loved that they had a veggie burger option. It was delicious. But the thing that really blew me away was the battered green Chile with the ranch dipping sauce on the appetizers menu. I tried it on a whim and that was the true highlight. I’d never had anything like it before.
Great place to eat! Food was delicious and atmosphere was really neat. Would have been 5 stars but the older waitress with the silver curly hair provided terrible service (10+ minutes to even greet the table and we are still waiting on our waters)...as if the service wasn't bad enough she then went as far as to complain her tip wasn't 20% OUTLOUD before she left the table and failed to return with a receipt.
