Slightly dirty, but it had the best burger and fries I ever had. It will probably be years before I have one that good again. If your in the area I would go.

This place hit the spot after a long day on the road. The green chile burger is excellent.

Great, fresh food. A wonderfully unique spin on Mac n cheese - complete with bacon and green chili. I had the southwest chicken salad with spice level to order - I ordered medium, and being from NOLA it hit just right. My husband had the cheese burger and loved every bite. My husband said “this is a restaurant oasis for miles around.”
They had vegetarian options and the waitress was very accommodating to the tables around us.
Inside is cool - filled with gorgeous art done by a local artists, and healthy happy plants. The owners are friendly and welcoming.

Did not disappoint. Had a great meal with good service. Came through Harvest Host. The burgers were amazing. Would be happy to stop back in if we are ever in the area again.

Restaurant has a very southwest and New Mexico feel to it. The food is amazing! Full of flavor with very generous portions! I got the mushroom swiss burger with sweet potato fries. The fries were soft and perfectly salted. The burger was dripping with flavor and the mushrooms and onions were sautéed immaculately. Service was quick and the staff was very friendly. 10/10 would definitely recommend and will be back for sure when I am in the area next!!!

My wife and I really enjoy Tumbleweeds. The menu items change frequently but they manage to keep many of our favorites on there. The menu is quite trendy for a rural town and the food is delicious. The staff is prompt and friendly. We run a guest ranch in the area and when we give a tour of Magdalena, you can bet Tumbleweeds will be places to stop. One of our guests said: "They have one of the best "smash burgers" I have ever had."
Stayed overnight at Tumbleweeds Diner through Harvest Hosts while heading toward White Sands, and I’m glad I stopped. What I didn’t realize until I got there was that the VLA (Very Large Array) is just 20 minutes away. I’m a big space and science nerd, so getting to see those massive dishes moving in real time was surreal. If you’re in the area, it’s worth making time for a visit.
The parking lot is dirt, so I wouldn’t recommend trying this location in bad winter weather or during heavy rain. I arrived after hours, and there were no gates, codes, or staff on site. Just a peaceful, no-pressure vibe. You pick your spot and settle in. One other camper van was there, and there’s one picnic table available if you get to it first. I only stayed one night, which was the limit from what I understood, but honestly, I would have loved to stay an extra night just to spend more time at the VLA.
Before leaving town, I made sure to eat at the diner itself, and it was awesome. The place is nicely decorated, with plenty of local souvenirs and a laid-back, welcoming feel. The staff was incredibly friendly, the prices were great, and the food was top-notch. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich, and it hit the spot. Check out my photos. I took quite a few, including drone shots of the surrounding area.
This was a peaceful, easy stop with good food and access to one of the most impressive science sites in the country. If you're road-tripping through New Mexico, especially as a Harvest Host member, I definitely recommend this place.
Side note: I’ve submitted nearly 600 reviews, and my photos and videos have over 18 million views on Google Maps. If this helped, give me a follow. It’s always appreciated!

I don't think $5 for a side of fries is worth it. Both my friend and I ordered fries—she got a salad with hers, while I just got the fries. Her portion was significantly larger than mine. The fries were good, but the price didn't justify it.

Heavy emphasis on smashburgers, but for good reason; they're delicious.

We've read positive reviews and wanted to give it a go. Tumbleweed didn't disappoint. It is a small shop with ~10 tables and a bar. Nicely appointed with SW art. Staff was friendly. Service was a bit slow, but they were upfront about it when we walked in. So, no surprises and the headsup set expectations. I'm a fan and will visit again when we are in the area. Chicken sandwich was crispy outside and jucy/tinder inside. Hand cut fries! Real fries not reconstituted potato extrudate. I thought my burger was seasoned really well. It lacked nothing. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
PS I overheard the server describing veg patties for the burgers. The menu also suggested that Tumblweeds would be accommodating to dietary restrictions.

Smash burger heaven. The natural cut fries cannot be cooked to my liking but it has nothing to do with them not trying. I'm just picky that way. It's 4 stars because it's not Morton's steak house.
