Had a wonderful dinner. I had eaten at the restaurant twice once in November and again in December. The atmosphere of the restaurant on my second visit was wonderful and the manager was very attentive- I believe his name was Carter. It was all around a great experience.
Altogether just fine.
The food was not bad but not as good as the price would have you think. The service was exceedingly slow, though the waitress was very nice (we were there on NYE, so take with a grain of salt).
Horrible Experience!! My wife and I were invited by another couple to join them for dinner on a Saturday night. It started off bad when the young man who was the hostess for the night was extremely rude and looked as if he hated his job. Our server was nice and our dinner was good. As we were drinking and having a good time socializing, the hostess came and brought our check to us all under one bill. We were instantly taken back because we were not done nor asked for the bill…… and why was our server not bringing the ticket? We told him we were not done and we were separate tickets but if they wanted us to leave, we would. My friend gave cash and I gave my CC to cover what was left. When the server brought the check back, all was good. The next day I checked my account and she had charged me the rest of the bill and my entire bill again! Charged twice!! I immediately called the manger “Andrew maybe” and he stated that he was so sorry for the horrible experience and told me he would comp all the meal and reimburse me all the money. I thanked him …….. I still have not received that money back and he refuses to call me back as I have left multiple messages for him over the past two months!! I do not recommend at all! Shame on this staff!
This is for the lounge . Extremely understaffed and the bartender will just cater to the locals ignoring all the hotel guests. Bartender inexperienced and no backup. It’s a shame witnessed patrons leave
First, I haven’t been to Inn of the Mountain Gods since the 90s and was shocked at the new facility. I do somewhat miss the old elegance of the lodge. But that’s not part of this review. Once we parked in the parking structure (free level2 AC charging) and made our way to the restaurant, it was lovely. The view over the lake is amazing. We were seated over by the window. And we watched the sunset over the hill. Our server was wonderful. Professional and affable, and covering far more tables than is reasonable, but doing so without missing a beat. The food was solid. We had crab cakes - which were pricey, until we saw they came with 3, which makes sense. The steak was well prepared and well priced. The supporting sides were fine. The wine list is a bit spotty, but we found a surprisingly well priced bottle on the menu, and it was great. There was a guitarist who provided entertainment, playing classical flamenco-inspired interpretations of classic rock songs and others. Was a delightful touch - and he was a fantastic classical guitarist. All in all, would strongly recommend.
Filets were tender, but didn't have a lot of flavor. Mashed potatoes were delicious. Didn't feel the price was equivalent to the food. Servers were attentive and knowledgeable. Probably wouldn't eat here again.
Oysters on half shell smallest I've ever seen they should be ashamed to serve this for 78$ this is probably my last trip to this place
The service at this location was good. My biggest problem was the 32oz Bison Tomahawk for $130. It was a very worthless cut of meat and wasn’t even 32oz. I know a good steak and had better at Roadhouse. Then my wife orders a salad for $13 and I have seen better at a truck stop. The lettuce was brown and yellow. Just don’t understand how this location stays in business with the price and poor quality of food. Only reason I gave 2 stars is because the server was very nice and the side mash potatoes and asparagus was good. Thank goodness or I would have starved with a $177.00 bill. My dog ate good he isn’t going to turn down anything.
We ordered filets for my wife and myself. They were excellent. We had their mushrooms and they were excellent. The baked potatoes were very good. I wished I had the recipe for their mushrooms. Wow!! My wife had a cosmopolitan and had two of them, very good. Our server was Cory and she did a great job. Was prompt on serving everything. We are ready to return for another great meal. Thanks Cory
Our server was knowledgeable and entertaining. Wehad a good chat with her. She has worked in Wendells over 10 years.

My wife and I had a great dinner at Wendell’s Steakhouse at the Inn of the Mountain Gods. What helps makes a great dinner is good service and we had that with our waiter, Scott, who managed our table efficiently while also taking care of several other tables. The dining room manager, and I did not get his name, stopped by our table several times to inquire if everything was to our liking and if he could do anything for us. The food was very good, we split a salad, and had two filets with side dishes and everything was prepared properly and had great flavor. We finished everything off by splitting a Crème Brûlée which was a perfect ending to the meal. During the meal we had the pleasure of listening to Gerardo play the guitar and he is a master of the instrument. The only downside is that you are at a resort and people dress in extremely casual clothing (jeans, t-shirts, flip-flops) which does detract from the overall dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
What a shame. Been a couple of years since we have eaten at Wendells. Previously it was pretty special. Quality environment with great service and food that was great. Times have changed. Exceptionally slow … 20 minutes before we had water served. Ordered wine and an appetizer at that moment. It was another 20 minutes before the wine arrived. 15 minutes after that our scorched mushroom caps arrived. Our food order was finally taken. 20 minutes later we were informed they were out of baked potatoes … in a fine dining steakhouse???? All in all we were “committed” for right at two hours. The food was good but certainly not something we will want to come back for. Just a shame …
Always a Treat - love the guitarist on weekends and delicious food. The servers are friendly and take care of you. Go every time we are there!
I made an Open Table 7 PM reservation for 6 well in advance in order to entertain my friends of over 50 years, to enjoy a good meal, the scenery and to celebrate our 49th Wedding Anniversary. Our group was quickly seated well away from the window The view is incredible. I suggest you request window seating. I have no idea if they will honor the request. Our waiter told us they were out of salmon and took our food order. Some time later he came back and told us that they were out of prime rib, elk osso bucco and the other elk offering, which basically left steak, duck, chicken or prawns as the only offerings. He was unapologetic and just wanted our second choices. Three of us had ordered the prime rib and one had really wanted salmon to begin with. Service was on the slow side. I will say that the food was really good when it came. My filet was prepared to order and the white cheddar and chives potatoes were delicious. My wife ordered the duck dish and raved about it. I tasted hers and it was very good. What gets me is how a fine dining restaurant could be out of so many of their menu offerings at 7 pm. Poor management. When we were done and the check finally came, it had all of our replacement dishes on it as well as the 3 prime rib dishes we didn't get. There was also a $3 charge for splitting a salad that the waiter did not bother telling us about when we ordered. A service charge of 20% was included. I would not have left a 20% gratuity if given a choice. In summary - atmosphere was great and the sunset was incredible; service - on the slow side and no mention was made of our anniversary even though that information was provided when I made the reservation, food - what we were served was very good and the presentation was excellent, just not what 4 out of the six of us wanted.
Arrived on time and was seated promptly. In a few minutes was asked to change tables. Waited over 20 minutes and never had a server. I left and checked out at the entrance - they did not care. Four individuals swirling around the check-in desk doing what looks like nothing.
