We were traveling through while visiting the Salinas Ruins and looking for a bite to eat. We gave the Shaffer Dinner a try because is was the only place open on Sunday. It was a great place to stop. The art inside is beautiful and the food was delicious. Please don't let the Indigenous Four Wind symbols (some might confuse with backwards Swastika) on build the deter you dropping in and enjoying some delicious food.
This historic old hotel is definitely worth a stop if you are in Mountainaire explloring the ruins. The food was fresh and good, well cooked and served quickly. The service was friendly and prompt. This is not a fast food joint, and while the menu is very small, everything is made freshn to order. There is a nice selection of local art to peruse after you eat too!
We were a group of about 20 people. We had called ahead to make them aware of the number of people and approximate time of arrival. They were well prepared for us. We didn't have to wait for our orders to be taken or the food to arrive. The food was delicious! The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The owner even gave us the history of this historic place. Definitely recommend!
