About five years ago we stumbled upon this place. A terrific bowl of bowl of butternut squash soup. A chili cheeseburger, and on the way past the bar, saw a carrot cake. Hmm. She explained there are two pounds of carrots in the cake. And much more. Carrot cake to drive 60 miles for. Today was cold and cloudy outside, but inside we had a quiet lunch around a warm wood stove.
Wow. The waitress serving customers today should get some time off. She was a bit surly from the moment we walked in and asked for a table for four. we didn't mind waiting and I watched her "deal" with other customers who asked questions you would expect such as what is your favorite? She replied I really don't know, repeatedly. what is this jam like? I really don't know we just sell it. Stopped in for lunch on a day trip from Santa Fe to Taos. WOW? First off, place is in the middle of nowhere but the food is New York special!! Wait staff is fabulous, even showed our friend around the kitchen. The headliner was the food...toasted cheese, green chili burger and goat cheese salad... all fantastic. We ended our lunch with a really awesome, and large, piece of Carrot Cake, also out of this world. Worth a trip from anywhere.
