This is not your normal review; this is an internal review. I was working at this café, and my experience with the owner, John, was quite negative. He was often rude and sarcastic with his employees, which created a tense work environment. He would micromanage even the smallest tasks, making it difficult to feel comfortable doing my job. For instance, one time I was carefully putting chili on a burrito, holding the plate over the pan to avoid spills. John yelled at me from across the kitchen to stop and stomped over in a passive-aggressive rage, insisting that I do it his way. He wanted me to take the ladle of chili across other plates instead of holding the plate over the pan, which seemed counterproductive to me. After I followed his instructions, he still found a way to get upset, complaining that there was chili on the to-go box. Additionally, there was a serious health code violation I noticed. John was responsible for putting away the truck orders, and I saw ground beef stored directly next to bread on the same shelf. The ground beef was positioned right above produce, and you could visibly see the cross-contamination from drops of blood dripping down onto the green chili. When I brought this to John's attention, he responded in a passive-aggressive manner, which was frustrating. Instead of addressing the issue, he seemed irritated that I pointed it out. (attached is a picture of blood drops on a case of green chili) Before I left, I spoke with his wife, who mentioned that he is under a lot of stress because one of his employees switched their schedule for school. While I can understand that running a business can be stressful, as a business owner, he should be able to adjust the workload to manage that stress without taking it out on hard-working employees. Overall, my experience working with John was very negative. His unprofessional behavior and lack of respect for health standards made it hard to work in a productive and safe environment.

so this guy I'm friends with on Facebook, don't really know him well but he has a cool car, has a girlfriend who worked here and allegedly got fired for taking bereavement for the loss of her grandmother. that's not cool. bet the food is fire tho.

The owners made us feel very uncomfortable and lacked communication skills. Especially the male owner, as if we were the problem. I asked if they could recook my turkey bacon because it was burt to a crisp. Our server came back and let me know they were all out of turkey bacon. I asked them to comp my meal, and our server left again, by this time I was very hungry. I started to eat what was edible, and when she came back, they said I already ate my food and they would not comp me. If they had let me know from the beginning there was no turkey bacon. I would've ordered something else. It was a huge lack of consideration for the customer. Also, they don't serve you coffee. You have to get up and make your own coffee with (no consideration of handicap people) along with a lack of alcohol selection. Almost seemed like they didn't want us in their establishment. Me and my parents left feeling like our money wasn't green enough.

The management and menu has change! What a waste, they have taken a fun local restaurant with great standard food and now serve a “new wave” menu. It is not something that I expected nor will I return. Really to bad.

We have enjoyed this cafe for more than five years. However, very recently we have had two unfortunate experiences within two weeks. First, we went in one morning for a delicious breakfast and decided to sit outside. From experience we know they don’t often see us outside so I went in to grab a couple of menus and let them know we were there. A woman I’ve never seen, who might be an owner, was busy with two men ahead of us. One was placing a large order and she was tied up with him. I waited patiently about five minutes. No problem, but during that time 6-7 people came in to sit down. I finally got her attention and said, I just wanted to let you know we are outside. She said very curtly, Ok ma’am but there are a few people ahead of you. I replied, Not really. We have been outside since they came in and I just wanted to let you know. She replied, equally curtly, Ok ma’am I’ll get to you when I can. I heard her mention to another customer that their busser hadn’t come in and they were training someone in the kitchen. We left. A few days later my visiting family wanted to go in for breakfast. I warned them of my unpleasant experience. When they returned they said they’d had the worst breakfast ever. Service was slow. The woman stated to someone that they were training someone in the kitchen. Their meals were awful. One had pancakes and said they were overly floury and had a sour taste. The other had chicken enchiladas and said they were mostly gristle. The other had cheese enchiladas that had almost no cheese and a very small sliced avocado. Traditionally we have had to wait a while for service, but the food did not disappoint. And we have never been treated rudely. I find this to be a terrible shame. This is one of our go-to places. We frequently bring out-of-town visitors. We’ve always enjoyed ourselves and we enjoy patronizing local businesses. I find it difficult to imagine going back. At least not for a while.

I asked for red on my burger, the receipt clearly says red chile but they put green instead. I tried calling and the number seems to be not working. Busy signal every time.

We were there 45 minutes, and nobody gave us a menu, yet white people were attended to immediately. We never got to taste the food we got very upset.

I tired the Cheddar Bacon Burger and it was absolutely amazing. I hate fast food type burgers and this the exact opposite. It was fresh and every ingredient was quality. I liked that the lettuce was romaine and spinach. The patty was juicy and perfectly cooked. Thick as well. The bread was good quality and brought the burger together. Definitely a good atmosphere for a drink and burger. Worth the small drive from ABQ for this if you want a good burger.

Great atmosphere. They got very busy right after we were seated but the service was great, the food was good and it has a nice neighborhood feel.

You guys are never open. What good is the great food if you can't get it? Thought about selling the place?

I had higher hopes based on the reviews. Service is fine. The gentlemen seemed to be the only server on Saturday morning and was friendly and helpful. We both ordered a bloody mary, and if you love bloody mary's, it would be best to skip this one. Very bland and flavorless. It reminded me of what you would get at an all-inclusive resort minus the alcohol. I ordered the Placitas omelet with Christmas sauce, and I really couldn't detect a difference in the two. The red chili was bland, and I was terribly unimpressed. Same with the green chili. The sautéed vegetables were on point, but the omelet just wasn't great. It wasn't fluffy, soft, or creamy. The sausage was OK, but the potatoes were under seasoned and boring. My husband enjoyed his chorizo scrambled eggs but not the potatoes. He ordered a side biscuit, and it was very dry. Not the dry that you needed to dunk to save your teeth but dry enough to stop after one bite. Super cute place with fun decor.
