It was a bad experience for a number of reasons. We have been going to Pappas for a couple of years now and loved it the first year. It was fantastic and the service was friendly and the prices were really good. Over the last year the food and service has gone way downhill. We used to feel welcomed and like they valued us as customer's. Today there was a bald guy we had never seen before acting as host and after he sat us down, he proceeded to help all the other customers with their drinks and then he ignored us. Our waitress was obviously having a bad day, though she was good at her job. My husband had the breakfast burrito that tasted old, and I had one egg, bacon, hashbrowns and raisen toast. We got a coffee to share, as well as cokes for each of us. The bacon had been sitting around for awhile, the hashbrowns weren't even browned, and the raisen toast was overdone. The coffee was the weakest most sorry excuse of colored warm water with that burnt coffe taste. The best thing about either of our meals was the Coca-Cola! This was a $45 meal for us. Not alot for some but quite a bit for us right now. To top it all off the food is a little more expensive for a lot less quality than when we started eating there. Its a shame because it was so good and with the rising cost of everything we totally understand raising prices a little, but at least maintain quality! We live on a mostly fixed income so it is very disappointing when we think we've found a delicious, comfortable and affordable restaurant only to have it deteriorate this way. We won't be going back.

I've been to Raton twice, and if go through again, I'll eat here again for the 3rd time..it's that good! We had the breakfast burrito and breakfast sopapilla. They were amazing and definitely could be split by 2 people. Try the green Chile on everything...chef's kiss.
Kid-friendliness: They had chicken strips and fries for breakfast for the picky 5 year old.

Excellent food! I had pancake enchiladas with beef, fried egg and Christmas Sauce. (A mixture of red and green sauce) I prefer their red sauce. Service was excellent, what a positive group of employees. The atmosphere was a flow of local patrons eating and enjoying good food. Definitely, a local favorite restaurant. I plan to go again.
Wheelchair accessibility: I went in through the side door. It had an accessibility ramp.

Me and my husband stopped in with our two young Grandson's. We really enjoyed the food. And the staff was very friendly. We will definitely stop by again the next time we pass through Raton. I highly recommend The New Mexico Burger with Red Chile.
