Does anyone actually ever win here.
We have visited IMG for years, starting when we lived in Texas. We now live in Arizona and continue our annual summer visits to golf and our friends enjoy the casino. Something happened to the rooms this time. Our 'luxury' room was large but empty except for the bed and two chairs. Furniture gone. Used to be comfortable chairs. And the closet has disappeared! We stayed four nights and have to bring golf clothing and dinner clothing and NO PLACE to hang clothes. The "closet" was about 18" wide. We had to take out the ironing board and hang our clothing on that. This is unacceptable in a hotel as nice as IMG (used to be). Our friends said the same. Huge rooms with no furniture to speak of. And no closet space. Please fix this. #2 - no daily cleaning service which is ok, but should be able to have extra trash liners on hand. Ran out of clean towels after our 4 night stay. Ran out of coffee as well. No way to get a response for refills. Had to snag supplies off the cleaning cart in the hallway. We love visiting IMG, but help! Fix the issues! Thank you. Awful. The price does not reflect the condition of the greens. To charge full price is shameful. Cut down all the trees in the middle of the fairways. The staff didn't seem to care, they're probably underpaid.
It is so unfortunate that I will not be able to have my special event at this beautiful and historic property. Why? Because of the nonexistent customer service skills of Rachel Lewis and Charles Meeks in the Catering and Wedding Coordinator Dept. CONSUMER BEWARE. I've spent so much time planning (6, almost 7 months!) at the direction of Rachel Lewis only for her to waste my time by telling me she will "no longer work with me" after giving some (much needed) constructive feedback. I reach out to her manager, Charles Meeks who contacts me, promises to send over a contract to sign, work directly with him and save the date only to not hear from him again for 2 months!! Then attempt to gaslight me into signing a contract within 24 hours and providing a $700 non-refundable deposit, oh and has Rachel handle the paperwork?? They don't want to earn your business and are not in the business of apologizing or at least admitting to their mistakes. Charles literally tells me, "I'm not admitting anything. Just sign the contract."
I would recommend getting a room with the lake view. It was stunning! My main complaint is our room was very outdated and a bit musty smelling upon arrival. Also no housekeeping unless requested ( we stayed 4 nights) I had to call and get some things restocked. Just one day of housekeeping would have been nice. Lots of food options which was great. Casino is small but actually enjoyed that over the chaos of say Vegas. We would stay here again just can’t give 5 stars because of room
I was disappointed with my experience at in this resort. The setting is beautiful and the resort has potential, but it seems very rundown. They also don’t provide housekeeping, so on my third day, I’m dealing with piles of towels, I’ve run out of coffee and water and trash is piling up. Truly the service has been the worst part of the experience in every area of the resort. I added one day to my prior reservation at the last minute and couldn’t get in our pre-booked block of rooms. So i agreed to pay the higher rate for it out of my pocket. When checked in, I asked if I could just stay in the same room for my 3 night stay, they said no, that I had to physically get up the next morning check out of my room, store my luggage and re-check back into another room the next day. So even though I was there at 8 o’clock in the morning checking out and storing my luggage and asking for an early check-in. I was told the check-in was at 3:00 P. Then, when I went to check in at 3:00 PM I was told that there was a huge list of uncleaned rooms and mine was one of them, they couldn’t tell me when my room would be available, but they hoped it wouldn’t be after 5:00 PM. The front desk clerk was very rude, I stood to try to store my luggage for about 20 minutes, making me late for my meeting, I repeatedly asked if there was someone working they said he was on his way, just a very bad experience overall. I went to Starbucks to try to get a quick croissant to bring back to my room for tomorrow morning and started ordering with the girl at the counter, who interrupted me and said she couldn’t take my order yet and for me to “wait”. I did as I watched her chit chat with her coworker for 10 minutes. I’d had decided that was enough and left. Entire staff seems very interested in being helpful. They don’t seem to want to work. It feels like we’re in the middle of Covid here. I would not recommend this resort.
The "suite" was unacceptably dirty, run down and outdated even though it was an upgrade. The shower had a smell and significant amounts of what appeared to black mold. The bed had not been vacuumed under causing a clear build up of dust and dirt. The furniture had holes in them, carpet was frayed, curtains torn, bedroom furnishings worn and old. The doorways and closet was in bad need of paint. This outdoor common areas were badly maintained showing rust, dirt and standing areas of water. One customer service rep was extremely friendly while another was quite rude and dismissive.
We did not stay here this time, just spent an afternoon and evening. I was a little disappointed - in the past the hotel and lounge areas, restaurants have been pristine. It seems as if the labor shortage has caught up with the resort. We ordered drinks and went outside on the porch overlooking the lake; many of the chairs were missing cushions, there was trash on tables and on the floor. In the lounge, the tables were dirty and nothing had been dusted; it had a thick coating of dust on the lower part of the tables. We ordered dinner there and there was an electronic menu outside which we had looked at and wanted to order an item from, the bartender sheepishly explained that that was not on the menu anymore; the electronic menu had been out of date since Easter...this was August! Come on, this has always been a pristine resort! I will say that the crab and shrimp with the sangria reduction was good, and the dealers in the casino were very nice.
My friends and I had a wonderful experience on the zip line. The scenery was amazing and the staff were great! Martin checked us in and was so friendly and helpful. Four ladies in our group had never been on a zip line. The young man that strapped us in our seats was so nice and friendly, then the guy at the end of the ride was friendly and gave us some water to drink. One of the ladies has trouble walking. Martin arranged for the security guy, Robert to meet us at the end and gave her a ride in the golf cart to the parking lot. I am just so impressed with the staff!!!
Inn of the Mountain Gods is a great place. We stayed there years ago and it has done nothing but improve since then. The inn is nothing short of spectacular. The views of the lake and golf course, the casino, the restaurants, the paddle boats and the hospitality are unmatched. This year we went exclusively to ride the zip line. It did not disappoint!! After a short SUV ride to the top of the mountain we were buckled in and ready to go. What a view is all I can say. My grandson and I went and throughly enjoyed the experience. A must do when in the area.

We learned when we arrived that the pool was on maintenance, we travel with two kids and the pool was the main reason for choosing the resort, today there is no hot water on the shower, worst experience ever, last time here. Beautiful landscape bad attitude on employees
Nothing special wants cold food... nothing special.

The view is great. The service is not. Just returned from a 2 night trip there and was disappointed in just about everything. First off, there are several areas of the hotel that need maintenance. The room was great, better than expected. But, the overall service was terrible. I almost felt like the staff were upset that we were there. We had dinner downstairs at Wendell's, with a reservation our table was not ready until 20 minutes after reservation time. Food was good, but overpriced. Very frustrating to see what the tribe has here and how poorly it is being managed. They also advertised bike rentals, but they do not have kids bikes so that was a bust. Front desk was lacking at best, once again nobody was working. The one positive was the valet! Those guys were great. Overall, just really poorly managed. Such a shame.
This place has no common hours for restaurants, bars, etc. Every place we went was “well we stay open to this time, but we will stay open to this time if we are busy , but we may close sooner if it’s slow” but no consistency. Everything was based on need and employees. Even the front desk at night confirmed that these places were open, we made an effort to support these restaurants. . We showed up and they’re like “actually we’re completely closed “ (lights off , kitchen closed ) more than an hour before the closing time. Even customers at the bar said “plan to eat and drink somewhere else, ruidoso is notorious for doing whatever they want”. This is ridiculous for being a “prestigious” place in the area. We also had attitude from bartenders throwing napkins at us , not asking us for our order, making us feel “be littled” for asking basic questions like “do you have a wine list” . I have NO reason to return. I’m Paying for their accommodations not mine. I am very disappointed in the lack of consistency and PRIDE that this place is trying to offer.
I have stayed here countless times and always enjoy the atmosphere and the rooms. This time around the pool was very dirty and had lots of hair. The people in the front desk are so rude and not very helpful. I was told check in would be at 3 or later but they would text me to let me know my room was ready. Nothing, I tried calling and was put on hold so long I hung up and decided to go in person. Perhaps they should hire more people or move check out time later than 11 to make it fair. In the evening we went to have appetizers at the Broken Arrow but our waiter was rushing us because it was closing time. According to our time, we still had at least 20 minutes. Lastly, did have some pleasant interactions with some staff at the Boba place and the young lady serving coffee in the casino. Very disheartening to see staff behave so rude because we visit at least twice a year and I'm not sure I want to go back.
