Village Buttery was another pie stop on my quest to sample as many of USA Today's top 10 pie shops (from 2024) as possible while road tripping across the country; and frankly, I'm a bit disappointed in USA Today for not re-including them in 2025! I'm sure narrowing it down to just 10 shops in the entire country is pretty hard, but Village Buttery's marquee butter pie is truly one of a kind and definitely lived up to its well-earned reputation as a unique and special dessert! Meanwhile, their offering of 4 high-end-bakery cookies for just $6 (at least at the time I was there) is an unheard-of bargain for that level of cookie deliciousness! New Mexico is unfortunately quite far from home for me, but I would/will definitely return here in a heartbeat if I every find myself anywhere remotely nearby in the future!

PIE!!! Their pie is amazing! They had a line of people just picking up whole pies and we found out why. The only way you’re going to be disappointed here is if you try someone else’s food and like it better than yours. Everything was delicious. We had the chicken salad, ham, and BALT sandwiches. Chicken salad won with us but all were good. The BALT would have won if it had a little more bacon. The chili and potato soup were also good, but the tomato basil was better than La Madeleine. BUT the PIE. Just go get a piece or whole pie.

Loved the food and atmosphere here! We were in Ruidoso for a week during a move out west and got lunch here one day. You could really feel a sense of community here. Everyone was so friendly. Chicken salad, croissant, tomato basil soup, and blueberry cheesecake were all amazing! The tomato basil soup was probably the best tomato soup I’ve ever had.
We were in Ruidoso and heard this was the place to get pie and boy were they right! They have an entire case full of flavors that change daily. From their famous buttermilk to the classics like cherry and apple, they have a pie for everyone. Their pies were so good I tried 5 different flavors; coconut cream, coconut meringue, fruit pie, and chocolate cream. Everything was outstanding but my favorite was the coconut cream. Pro tip, if you want to take a whole pie home you can and I did! I didn’t have the pleasure of enjoying their many delicious options for lunch but next time I’m back I will.

Charming place to enjoy soup, salad, quiche, sandwiches and pie. Enjoy al fresco dining on the covered patio, or if the sun is just right snag the table on the front porch to enjoy people watching as you dine. Save room for some of their famous buttermilk pie!

Nice little cafe. I got the Buttermilk pie! WOW! It was sweet and delicious...like me😏! Staff was great! Bonnie (she's cute!) the pie maker was friendly and informative. Check the hours though I was almost too late! I will be back! I saw this restaurant on the Kent Rollins Youtube channel.
