The burger was okay — not the best, not the worst. Fries and chips were really good.

I do wish they had asked how I wanted my burger cooked. I prefer medium-rare, and it came out fully done with no pink, which was a letdown. That alone knocked it down a notch for me.

Talk about a found treasure! When we arrived all tables were occupied with people waiting. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by both of the ladies working there. Once a table became available we were asked if we wanted the table. The two ladies were happy and joking with each other but the attention to the customer did not suffer. As busy as they were, they were happy and as pleasant as I have ever seen and friendly. The two gentlemen cooking were busy but did a great job. They definitely knew what they were doing. Now you have my experience so if you miss this place, it's your own fault!!

Best burger in NM. Been stopping in since 2007. Tends to get busy but the wait is worth it. Green chile cheeseburger rocks.

Do not go to Buckhorn unless you have a couple of hours to burn.

My wife and I arrived at 12:55 Friday and waited about 20 minutes for a table to open. That was to be expected as the place was busy for lunch and for take-out. However, once we sat, and immediately placed our order for two Buckhorn burgers, their staple dish, we proceeded to sit until 2:05 which is when we decided to leave, having not received any food or any courtesy. We only had our two plastic cups of water. The rest of the dining room, with every table occupied, was also patiently waiting for their orders to arrive while the waitresses were busy trying to look busy. There was an unsettling sense in the place that NO ONE had food. This went on for at least 30 minutes. But, we were still willing to wait, since we had heard about the great food and had the expectation that eventually the food come out, right?

When the first of the orders finally came out, the two plates, what looked to be burgers, went to a couple who had been seated at the bar about 10 minutes after us. We stayed another 5 minutes waiting when we decided to just leave, not having received any food.

We cannot attest to the quality of the food, but our clothes and hair smelled of fried tallow, if that's any indication.

We recommend to just keep driving. You'll pay less, no gratuity, quicker service, and generous, quality food just up the road at Lotaburger.

Really good place. I went with my mother in law and my husband and the green chile cheeseburgers were AMAZING. I really enjoyed it.
