This was my first time in Silver City. My daughter was having an allergy attack after walking by the river so we went in to get her some tea for her throat. The gentleman behind the counter was super sweet and had great suggestions. I then asked for a coffee for me… “dealers choice”…. Meaning their choice. But please make it iced, super sweet and super strong. I’m not sure what he made me but it was SO good!!!!

We visit Silver City every few years and we always visit this coffee shop. It seemed a little rundown and unkempt this time. The sugar stand was covered with crumbs though I was the first customer on a Saturday morning, and the dish pan for used dishes looked nasty.
The barista was friendly and the coffee was excellent.
I sat in the side room. After a while a scruffy guy with a backpack and guitar sat on the couch opposite. He did not appear to be a paying customer. He alternated between strumming his out of tune guitar and staring intently at me, until I finally got up and left. If I was female, I would have left right away.

Javelinas's is a great environment with plenty of space to work on your laptop or just sit. Lauren the barista is friendly, seems to know the customers and keeps the orders moving. Brewed coffee is serviceable, but owners may consider a better carafe or just do pour overs. Brewed coffee a bit bitter and cold. Order the latte until the brewed coffee is worked out, though I prefer non-espreeso roast.

Javalina Coffee House in Silver City has a funky atmosphere. Some gifts and jarred tea for sale. Books, games, lots of places to sit. The chocolate chip muffin was good. The chai latte tasted mostly like warm milk.

Amazing Butterbeer latte, wonderful service, delicious treats! The atmosphere is warm, inviting and casual. I imagine curling up on one of their cozy couches on a rainy day sipping delicious coffee and reading a book would be the perfect day! Highly recommend!
Insanely tiny cup for a “medium” drink. Paid $15 for 2 of these “medium” coffees and they were gone in one sip. The ice took up most of this supposedly 12oz cup. Very disappointing.

Today is August 17, 2025. I normally rave about the Javalina, but today was the worst experience. I was with my wife, as she sat down I approached the counter. The young man initially did not acknowledge me, but when he did speak to me it was with an attitude. This surprised me because the baristas are normally very pleasant and helpful. I gave him my order (I was the only customer at the time), which was done in record time. When I started to retrieve the drinks he remembered he forgot to add the syrups: he did so after the fact. He did not apologize and tried to justify his lapse by stating it shouldn't affect the flavor. Well, he was wrong. The drink was terrible, and my wife was very disappointed. I would recommend to the owners, who are very nice people, please avoid having this individual serving the public. He either needs better training or should be released from his position.
I absolutely adore this coffee shop. Sam and her Girls are just the sweetest. The couches are just the comfiest too.

BEST coffee house in New Mexico. I love the owner, she is so kind and thoughtful. She makes your drinks with care and attention. She does everything she can go make her customers happy. And bonus! You can sit and watch her sweet baby play while you enjoy your coffee. What more could you ask for?!

Make sure to only go when the owner is there working. Not the guy with the long hair, he’s not the best barista, and usually seems under the influence or is passed out on the couches ignoring people. The coffee he made today tasted straight up like latex.
