As I was driving through Socorro, New Mexico; I decided to try something different. I saw the sign and pulled in. It was definitely an older establishment. Didn’t know what to expect.
Ordered the basic and traditional enchiladas with red chile. I’m glad I did.
The food was super good and the prices were very reasonable. Plenty of food on the plate.
I think the servers name was Nalina. She was very nice and polite. Even though they were short staffed, she was on it.
If you’re ever driving through Socorro, NM; I would definitely recommend stopping in at this delicious place.. 👍

This restaurant has an extensive menu that includes burgers, Southwest selections, steaks and salads, to name only a few.

I chose a platter that included a tamale, a chili relano, and a cheese enchilada. The platter was HUGE! The tamale was tasty and the chili relano was the best I have ever had. The cheese enchilada was adequate.

The service was quick and efficient. The servers checked several times to be sure I had everything I needed.

A fun thing about this restaurant is the mix of Southwest and mid century decor. It has a diner vibe that harkens back to the 50s or 60s.

The food is great. My only problem is NO ONE answers the phone to place an order. Phone rings for hours before some does.

We have eaten here for years because we lived in Socorrofor more than 19 years. Every time we stay over passing through to visit friends, we have breakfast here. We normally buy the Huevos Rancheros with Green Chile. This is one of their signature dishes. You can also get it with Red Chile or Christmas (both Red and Green Chile). The Chile can be spicy but we've always had the Green Chile with a medium heat. It is ALWAYS good! They also have regular breakfast fare (i.e., no chile). I came to Socorro New Mexico in 1971 as a teenager. The El Camino Restaurant was there and had excellent food then, too! It can get crowded at times but it is worth the wait! Just be patient.

This place is better then most but still unable to make chilly the new mexican way it always comes out to hearty and it's not balanced right you can tell it was made with beef broth instead of a rue with clean water although it adds a unique and healthier flavor to the chilly whitch is a good change to make for diversity of flavors and adds to new mexican dining and this is one of the only new mexican dinners in the state that does amazing better the Dennis or Ihop good choice

Pretty decent Mexican food. I ate in the lounge as it has more character and sometimes local characters. Plus it's one the few later dinner options.

We ordered takeout and the food was delicious. We had the Navajo taco & the Super Chef Salad along with 2 slices of pie for dessert. We were not disappointed one bit. Reasonable prices. Give them a try!

Something out of the 1960's, like being in cannonball run! Loved it.

There aren't too many eating options in sleepy Socorro on Thanksgiving Day. So we ate at the only open establishment, the El Camino. And had a good experience. The atmosphere and decor is from the sixties, in a good way, with country and western music playing gently in the background. The menu is Mexican American. Portions are generous. The staff are friendly and attentive. We had the carne adivada which was excellent, and chicken fajita, also good. Certainly one of the more unusual Thanksgiving meals we have had, and one of the finest.
