First time here so we tried Butter Chicken, Curried Lamb on Rice and the YardStyle Fried Chicken with Coconut Chickpeas. We all shared the dishes and every one of us liked one or two things but didn’t like the others. It really just depends on your individual preference. We would order again once in awhile for a quick local lunch with a different flavor. One thing I’d comment to the owner is the fried chicken was flavorful but cooked a little too dark.

A quick stop in on our way home. Always hard to choose when you’re travelling but we were so happy with this choice. Donna was very kind and told us some great stories. So delicious! Try the oxtail!

The lamb curry was melt-in-the mouth tender and oh so flavourful, the Friday Fish n Chips special very good.

Went for their Jamaican tofu (avaible as a wrap or a salad), but they didn't have any tofu on-hand stating the demand hasn't been there to keep it in stock regularly. She said if you call a day ahead she'll have no problem marinating/preparing it ahead if time. She was sooooo sweet and truly felt bad for not having it in stock. Amazing service overall. Ended up getting an order of fries and they were hands down the best fries I've ever had!!! So crispy and airy! Highly recommend for the service and fries! Will definitely return to try the tofu!

We were having a delightful mother & son day in Amherst, before he heads back to University. We knew that we were going to eat at the Portlander Jamaican Restaurant (I called to make sure it was open) before we even left home today.
It was the perfect ending to our day, the food was delicious and Donna was a joy to converse with!!
* I had the Jamaican beef patty with coconut curry chickpeas and rice.
* My son had the oxtail (island style ?) and rice.
I also took home a few extra Jamaican beef patties for lunch tomorrow at the office. We will definitely be stopping by when next in Amherst.

We happened upon this restaurant during a brief trip to NS after a few days of driving - it was exactly what we needed. Both Donna and the gentleman who helped us were lovely and kind; the food was delicious; and (according to my child) the Ting was scrumptious. It was a great spot for a nourishing meal.

Vegetarian options: We tried the chickpea curry and the veggie patty. Kid approved!

Kid-friendliness: Everyone was so kind and welcoming to our kids! And they both loved the Ting.

There lamb curry with rice is the most awesome Jamaican curry I’ve ever had ?? props to the cook n it tastes authentic as can be :) n the prices r great!!
