Great spot for breakfast, they have baked beans . Had a traditional breakfast and it was very good and filling. The baked beans was an extra side I got and they were great . Highly recommend Cedar house . Plus left with some baked goods from the bakery and that was delicious as well .

Awesome little place to stop and eat. We got there a little later in the evening and it was very busy but we were taken care of very quickly. Food was awesome and our waitress was great. She took the time to visit with us and shared stories of her recent encounter with an NHL player who brought the Stanley Cup there a couple weeks ago. Would highly recommend if you are staying in the area or just passing through.

Food is good but don’t come here if you are ordering takeout. Their process is nonsensical. You call in the order but when you arrive, you have to wait in the bakery line behind people who have yet to order and people who are asking about what baked good are available. Then the cashier takes her time and tries to match up receipts before helping you. I’ve already ordered my food! I just want to pay and pick it up! It should not take over 15 minutes after your food is ready to pay someone. And of course the cashier then tells a waitress to get and wrap up the food... What is the point of waiting in line when a waitress gets your food in the end anyway?? And I’m supposed to tip for this? I always tip at least 10% for takeout orders but not when I am made to stand in a long line behind people picking out pastries. Takeout orders should be assigned to a wait staff. We are grabbing a meal just like dine in customers. And what happens if you dont call in your order? Wait in line to order and once it’s ready wait in line again to pay? Whoever thought up this process for takeout orders didnt think it through. You’re making customers wait and turning them into convenience store/self service customers and screwing your wait staff out of tips. Wanting folks to stand in line and wanting customers to tip…you need to pick one. Can’t have both. Out of the way restaurant should make it super easy for customers. We drove over 20 minutes for your hot meals! And then I have to wait and deal w your process?? No thanks. They always have folks dining in. I suppose they are happy w the turnover they get from that and can do without take out customers.

Lovely service, great food, friendly atmosphere and of course the best chocolate cake with boiled icing! Fish and chips were great, got the 2 piece and was stuffed afterwards. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting or driving by on the trans-Canada highway. I visit multiple times on my visits to family a couple times a year.Consistent and the best service.

Excellent place for homestyle cooking using fresh ingredients. You have to have the chocolate cake with a boiled icing! it's one of the best things you can get in Cape Breton besides lobster in lobster season!

Our waitress was phenomenal! The food was amazing! I had the Club House Supreme, which I would highly recommend. However, next time, I'll skip the fries and get potato or salad with it. My husband ordered the special, which was the Hot Turkey sandwich, and he loved it.The Cedar House is a must-visit restaurant when you're in Cape Breton!
