Have visited a few times now when I am in the area. Absolutely love the breakfast sandwich - always freshly made and tasty. The hot cocoa is also a favorite. Staff are always friendly. I highly recommend this café for good food, friendly service and a comfortable, cozy environment.

A warm and cozy spot in Dartmouth. The décor reminds me of the coffee shops of my youth. The staff are welcoming, pleasant and efficient. A great place to meet and have a relaxed chat with friends. Be patient for a seat since it can get crowded at peak times. The only downside is that parking can be a problem.

Such a cozy atmosphere, and great food too! Great spot to get comfy working on your laptop while enjoying a cappuccino, the soup of the day and various treats throughout the afternoon.

My partner had brought home a breakfast sandwich from this café a while ago, which I really enjoyed.
During a recent power outage, we decided to stop in for breakfast and coffee. I ordered a flat white and a bacon breakfast sandwich, and the sandwich did not disappoint at all.
The coffee wasn’t quite to my personal taste - it leaned toward a darker roast - but overall it was a pleasant experience.
This will definitely be a go-to spot for me when I’m craving a good breakfast sandwich!

Reminds me of a small European bistro. It can get busy very quickly with lots of chatter. Would love to see the space durning summer, especially since it is on the lake. Prices are $$ to $$$ : grilled chesse was a little too hot so better sip on your cafe first. The desserts, date square, specifically was actually very tasty - one of the best one I had in years. Staff was friendly. My friend did mention the hand drier in the ladies rooms very loud. Overall, cute local place.

These cozy little cafes can be a bit risky. Either the coffee is some terrible local concoction, or it’s delightful. I can say with relief that the Cottage Cafe has wonderful coffee. Will be back again!

I generally dislike leaving negative reviews.
Staff is polite and very friendly. And the service is fast. The view is beautiful and the place itself is great.
Do not come here if you’re even a little hungry, though. The breakfast sandwich couldn’t get smaller if they stuff it under a panini. It was tiny. We left and went somewhere else and purchased breakfast. Again.
If the sandwich is that small and you can’t help it. Add a hash brown. Add some green mixture on the side. Throw a potato skin in there.

Food was OK. Not much choice but it is a coffee shop. It's counter service so not much to say about that. Coffee was better then average. And we did like the cozy atmosphere albeit a bit cramped and it can get noisy when busy. There are better food choices nearby so go for the coffee.

To the last person reviewing this cafe with their 1 star review... their picture depicting the quantity of liquid in the cup is equivalent to 8oz... not the 6oz described. The photo they posted literally shows 8 oz of liquid, proving it's an 8oz cup. This cafe is great, and the cups are what the staff say they are :)

TINIEST CUP IN DARTMOUTH!! SHRINKFLATION IS RAMPANT HERE!!
Love the food, the staff the vibes but the prices are too high.
A cappuccino to-go is said to be served in an 8oz cup for $4.35 +tax…I asked the barista if the cup was the correct size when they served it to me because it was tiny!!
They reassured me it was 8oz. Got home to measure it and it’s a 200ml cup (equivalent to 6.763 us fluid ounces).
Again, food is good and staff are lovely and I’m aware everything is more expensive these days but at least be honest about it!
The best breakfast sandwich!
