Just went last evening for the first time with my partner for my birthday, and WOW. The service and the atmosphere were incredible, but the food quality and presentation was just out of this world. I've been thinking about it all morning. Doraku has totally changed my understanding of sushi, and what it can be.

I'm not usually that impressed by sushi. As an Ontarian, I'm used to visiting a strip mall to sit down for some rolls but I was excited to try some authentic Japanese style sushi next to an actual ocean. Needless to say, I was not disappointed! This tiny little shop is limited in seating but is very cute. It's one of the few restaurants where I'd actually prefer to sit at the bar. The bar is lovely, comfortable and connects to the kitchen which makes service homely. The sushi and miso was absolutely fantastic in flavour and quality and somehow had an elevated feel from what we are used to. We'd highly reccomend visiting this spot if you love your Japanese food!

Outstanding place..Just arrived in town on business and stumbled into this place. Japanese run very authentic and also local sake you can't easily get in other places. Manten for this place
Legit Japanese joint. From the menu to the staff and the way they treat you to the food itself, this place deserves its excellent reputation. Our servers were so pleasant and friendly at all times, the drinks were good (especially for the price) and the food was exceptional. We ordered the agedashi tofu and karaage chicken as appetizers and I think the karaage was in the top 5 I’ve ever had, including in Japan and among the many Japanese restaurants in the SF Bay Area. Seriously, it’s worth going for that alone. We also ordered some botan ebi with the fried heads, a pretty rare treat, and they were delicious. The heads were fried perfectly and were soooo good. For the main event, my companion got a roll with eel in it (meh, not my thing, but he loved it) and I got the large omakase sashimi. The selection of fish was seriously excellent and on par with what you would expect to find at higher end Japanese restaurants. It was an excellent value for the money considering the cuts of fish. The fatty tuna was absolutely amazing. I’m going back to this place ASAP.
