Very disappoi ting experience. We went for dinner last week. The service was fine and it looks clean.
However the food was a huge disappointment. The eggroll would have probably been good if it wasn't lukewarm. The almond sooguy was all dough w a very thin slice of chicken running.through it and it was soggy as well. And the rice was definately not fresh and was hard.
I can say the beef and broccoli was very good freshly cooked veggies.
We had a similar experience about a year ago but decided to try it again as we'd always been happy w it in the past.
I let the waitress know and she apologized but we definately won't go back.

We are never disappointed when we order from Fongs. We always do take out and it's yummy everyone! Never had a bad menu item yet and been ordering from here for 12 years! Thank you for great food in Cole harbour!

An unexpectedly discovered super delicious Chinese restaurant 😋 Our family bought 5 meals (a total of 11 set meals to choose from, very suitable for people who don't know how to order). Although it is not very authentic Chinese food, it is also very suitable for our taste. If it weren't for the trip, I would definitely come again (*^o^*)

Staff was friendly. Food came out fast, was hot and fresh. Chicken balls are very yummy. Chow mein was very salty but still tasty. Overall, I very much enjoyed it.

We’ve tried a few Chinese restaurants since moving to HRM in January, but we keep going back to Fong’s. It’s become our go-to for takeout. We haven’t eaten in yet, but I’ve picked up our food a few times and the restaurant has this amazing retro charm with what I believe is the original decor. It feels authentic in the best possible way.

The food is consistently hot, fresh, and delicious. We’ve had a number of chicken dishes and every single one has been flavourful and satisfying. The Fong’s Special Fried Rice deserves a shout-out. It’s honestly exceptional and always part of our order. Prices are reasonable and the portions are generous.

Fong’s delivers every time and we’re so glad we found them. Highly recommend.

Have been a customer at Fongs for over 40 years, usually get take out. Last week I ordered a combination plate and as usual, asked if I could substitute the rice for chow mein as I had throat cancer treatment and rice gets caught in my esophagus for some reason. They said that they could not accommodate this unless I ordered it separately. I stated that I’m a long time customer and told them about my throat issue but did nort make any difference. I told them to have a nice day and that I would never call them again. So much for loyalty.

Ordered food 20 minutes ago and had to wait 30 minutes in the restaurant. No place to sit asked us for a phone number five times and only then they said that they started cooking it.

Fong's has that authentic and uniquely Nova Scotian recipe set and provides comfort food to many of us East Coasters. Bean Sprout Chow Mein done right! 👍 Fong's can be busy, always a great sign, but make sure to call ahead of time if you're just looking to pick up a feast.

Have lived in the Cole Harbour area most of my life and have eaten at Fong's as far back as I can remember, certainly more than 30 years. I knew ownership had changed hands. We just ordered a takeout order for the first time since the new ownership and I must say that the Vegetable Guy Ding was the worst Guy Ding I ever saw in my life. It was over 60% large chunks of slimy onions 20% of large chunks of green pepper 10% carrots (the only thing that was edible), and a few other small amounts of something including frozen corn. It was horrible and uneditable.

I would add to that that I phoned them and told them of our experience and suggested they hold a credit for $10 for the next time we're in. They called me back 15 minutes later and offered me a five dollar credit. Strike 2!

I told them they would never do business with them again and that I would spread the word at how horrible the food was and how cheap they were to try to dicker over a $5.00 credit. Don't waste your time or money. Not very intelligent service for new owners. They are off my places to eat forever.

Tan's restaurant up the street is better (except for one of the waitresses).
