John's lunch *WAS* one of those amazing places that your friends say you need to go try, and you eventually regret not going to sooner.

This *WAS* my number one choice for fish and chips in HRM! Always fresh, always cooked perfectly, always worth any wait you have to endure.

***Last time we ate here they obviously fried the fish before battering it, and as a result you get tougher and slightly rubbery fish that's so laden down with grease that it's not fit for man nor beast. Nostalgia will only get you so far when you start cutting corners and sacrifice on quality***

An absolute must stop if you hit Halifax NS. On a one month visit I returned four times. You can’t the clams they serve from grocery fishmonger’s once a certain distance away from the Maritimes, let alone the way that they are famous for making them. Superb every visit

This was a great place to go for fish and chips or clams or even a burger. They're closed for good now but I'm so glad I got to get in an order the day before they closed. And they let me know to go to Pleasant Street Diner to keep eating the same foods as they're related to that diner somehow.Very nice!

So glad I got to come here less than a week before it closed forever. I had never visited Dartmouth before - this was my first time in Nova Scotia even - and I knew that this place would be right up my alley. Had a box of haddock tips, fries, slaw and they were all excellent. If you're reading this before October 31st, 2023, you should get down there and get yourself something.

A must stop hole in the wall ma and pa shop that serves great food. they were never anything fancy but that's not what they ever tried to be. made it seem like you were back in the 90s with great people before the world went nuts. love their clams, poutines were on point and their sea food in general.. they will be missed.
