Side Hustle Snack Bar

Really enjoyed our dinner! We had the mushroom udon, fried rice, cauliflower, and garlic cheese fries and everything was fantastic. Service was great too.

The food here is usually decent (The Smashie is great, as is the Morning Hustle) but it's expensive and many portions are small. However the Diner breakfast today was not good; tasteless eggs, burnt bacon and dry toast. It stings a little to be expected to tip 18% when nobody noticed how bad the food was. I'm hoping this was a rare miss.

I came from out of town after a kayak day trip. Reddit suggested this place. As a burger enthusiast, I found that the price (14 CAD) of the burger did not fit the quality and portion. I would not call this a smash burger but a replica of a Big Mac with a below par bun.
The service was great and the atmosphere was alright.
Garlic sauced fries were good.

Ate here in June, the food is very good. I find the cocktails/drinks quite high in price. Server wasnt having the best day. The Mac fries are so good!

Food is amazing. The smashie is a classic but you can’t go wrong on this menu. Great service, well trained servers, and Amanda was exceptional!

Smashburger and fries are delicious. This smashburger is probably my second favorite in Halifax. Dartmouth comes in second after Bud the Spud.. pretty serious when it comes to smashburgers and these guys did a great job

Being a chef, everybody always asked me where is your favourite restaurant? The answer is always Side Hustle. I have never had a bad experience. This is one of the few restaurants I never have to add seasoning. The dishes are always well balanced and delicious.

Seemed a tad overpriced for the food. Some of the food was good, other dishes not so much.

Visited Dartmouth for the first time and decided to have lunch here. Had the best Smashburger!!!!!! I'm not a crazy burger person but this one was too good!!! We also ordered Garlic Fries on the side, those are a must try too!

Came here recently with a group, for my best friend’s birthday celebrations.

The atmosphere was amazing, very nice and cozy feel. Great lighting.

We had a table in the private area, which made it nice and intimate.

Staff were very friendly and attentive.

I had an order of the Cauliflower for my appetizer and that was the best tasting cauliflower I’ve ever had. Very flavourful, a little bit of spice to it. 10/10 dish.

I had the Smashie for my main and damn was it ever great. Very flavourful and the burger patties were nice and juicy. One of the best smash burgers I’ve had in the city! 10/10

I also ordered the Zing Zing, which is a nonalcoholic cocktail. It was super tasty.

I will definitely visit this place again.

Parking: Parking was difficult to find close by. I had to park further away and walk 10 mins.

What a cute spot! Visiting Dartmouth from Halifax, I decided to stop here for a snack. Glad I did. The atmosphere was so welcoming, great long bar to sit at. I had the chicken sandwich which I would recommend and have again. I wasn’t supper hungry so I can’t wait to come back again when I am. Appys and Mains look so good ?

Best burger and fries ever!! Amazing layout and decor!

Upscale bar food, one of the better places to eat in downtown dartmouth. Simplistic but fantastic smash burger - fried rice and other Asian fusion dishes were great too.

I had been to Side Hustle before twice and had such a lovely experience.So I’m not thrilled to write this. But feel the need to share as I am concerned about what happened to me.I popped into eat some lunch during burger week, and they only had a burger week menu. Really nothing else on it. Which as a small place I guess is expected.I was about to head out, and the server recommended the Thai chilli chicken, and I said I can’t eat really spicy food. I then asked if the gluten free Thai chilli chicken could be made less spicy as it was the ONLY thing on the menu that wasn’t beef, or tofu that could be made gluten free.The server said yes - the kitchen could not add the spicy chili jam to the burger. And I was like great I’ll have that.The burger came out, everything looked good.3 bites in and I can barely breathe.They included the spicy chili jam, and as someone who can’t do super spicy items I nearly choked in the restaurant. It was quite embarrassing actually, I was coughing so hard I had tears streaming down my face. Made worse by how echoey the bar is itself.The server finally came by after I was coughing for several minutes and I told him there is spicy chili jam on this. He says he will get them to remake it.I had gotten nauseous from coughing so hard I don’t even want to eat more of the food that isn’t spicy (aka the fries I paid extra for)… So I just say no, thanks. You can take it. I had only eaten a handful of fries and a couple bites of the burger.It was pretty bad, I was pretty embarrassed.And I wasn’t even finished my cider before the bill was handed to me.They charged me for 50% of the meal, burger and fries even though I didn’t eat most of it.I likely should have said something to the server however I was already embarrassed from coughing so loudly.I likely will take a second thought before heading back as everything is expensive now, and I’d like to eat what I pay for.
