As someone who hasn't tried all of A & K's Food. it's great. The chicken itself is decent. But the crispy batter makes up immediately! And the drumsticks are amazing. The people there really care about those drumsticks! Don't forget about the taters. The taters are delicious and works with ketchup. (Well duh.) The rolls are a nice touch too. Really recommend! I give this place a high 4/5! (Also the service is good.)

A Cape Breton staple! Relatively quick service considering it was quite busy.
You can sit out in your car and wait for your order number to be called.
Chicken was incredible, the crispy batter was very flavorful. The gravy was delicious. Would recommend the number 18 if you are a bigger group!

Two days after tasting KFC about 45 minutes away in Florence, Nova Scotia—my first in what felt like a lifetime—I was spiraling. That golden crunch, the salty bliss… it haunted me. You know that moment when an addict gets their first fix after years of sobriety? That was me. And like any proper junkie, once I got a taste, I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

So I did what any reasonable person in the grip of deep-fried madness would do: I searched. I scoured. I found Lick-A-Chick (yes, that’s the real name) nearby. And then I drove like a man possessed, like someone chasing down a memory, like a food pilgrim on a sacred quest for crunchy redemption.

And sweet, crispy salvation—it delivered.

The chicken? Devastatingly good. Crunchy armor on the outside, dripping with hot, seasoned bliss on the inside. It didn’t just satisfy the craving—it escalated it.
The crinkle fries? Diabolical. Like someone weaponized comfort food and aimed it straight at my soul.
The name? Psychotic. Iconic! I’m not okay, and neither is Lick-A-Chick. And that’s why I love it.

This isn’t food. This is a relapse. This is fried chicken as vice. And I am deep in it now. Lick-A-Chick didn’t just answer my craving—it fed the monster.

If you’re anywhere within an hour of this place and not currently gnawing on a drumstick, I don’t know how you’re functioning as a human being.

Use to love it here but the chicken is overdone and dry.. not like in the 70's when we were young.
