We had the worst experience here! We came in as a large party ready to celebrate dinner as a family on vacation in Nova Scotia, we even called ahead to confirm seating and children’s menus. When we sat down I noticed the waitress seemed to have quite a dry sense of humor, no worries, that can be fun! Unfortunately, her personality turned out to be incredibly off putting, rude, and down right disrespectful. With 3 kids at the table we were told that they no longer have their kids menu and had no interest in making anything suitable for children under 4, even though they have a kids menu on their website site AND they confirmed they offer a kids menu when we called. The food was bland, boring, and definitely something I could whip up in my Airbnb kitchen in 20 minutes. I would not recommend if you are looking for good food, good service, and a good atmosphere. It was absolutely awful.

Very disappointed and could not recommend. Half of the items on the dinner menu were not available on a Thursday night. A children’s menu was listed on line but they no longer provide any children’s meals. When asked, staff told us, they could not make a grilled cheese for the kids even though they had both cheese and bread. Baked brie appetizer was a plate with totally melted cheese and some crackers. Seafood chowder, salad with shrimp were ALL LESS THAN average. Steak was tender but very very salty, shrimp added to a salad was tasteless, chowder was bland. Crab cake was just ok. Out of stock on several wines and discovered others were boxed wines.
Parking was inadequate even with only a few customers in the restaurant. The waitress didn’t seem to want to be there.

Sub par food for high prices. Called ahead to make sure they had kids menus. We were told they did, only to get there an hour later to be told they no longer have kids menus. Drinks were bland, food was worse. No accommodations made for allergies. Advertises full menu, only to arrive to be told they are out of 2/3’s of entire menu.

We made a reservation for six people for breakfast. We waited for sometime to be seated but we were never acknowledged, despite two servers walking by and plently of available tables. So we left.

We went to the Trellis and it was apparent it had been very busy. We felt bad for the poor servers who were very obviously understaffed and unprepared to deal with the volume on a Sunday.

Though it's not their fault unfortunately the entire experience suffered further than just a busy day. The bathrooms were really gross. It's law you have to actually have working paper towel holders and the trash was overflowing.

We ordered a sandwich and I ordered fries (I am gluten free) and a dessert to split. They put the fries on the same plate but I just ate the fries that didn't touch the sandwich.

We got the peanut butter pie dessert and the crust was burnt. :(

The worst is that when we left we realized we were overcharged — a side of fries with a sandwich which is what we were presented with is $5.. a sandwich $16 and a dessert $10. But we were charged $10 for the fries... What's the deal? It wasn't a full plate of fries. It was quite literally on the side of the sandwich. :(

All in all the bill was $41 for a sandwich with a small side of fries and one dessert. Not correct and not cool.

Try to avoid on busy days.

You can get orange almond salad, veggie burger, African peanut soup or massaman curry. Not on the menu but you ask for a side of bread without butter. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about vegan options and what could/could not be made vegan. Updated from previous review on 2025-08-11

Ordered a lamb burger. Was advised by staff that their method of cooking lamb, really compliments the meat.
It was ok. But hardly anything on the burger other wise. The only side it came with was fries, which was half a potato, cubed and baked with a seasoning. Absolutely nothing else on the plate, for $26. Could have used a few veg or something. 2 burgers, 1 can of pop and 1 beer was $70.
Nice place and staff, but they have to work on the food, or atleast the presentation of it.

While our EV was charging, we went hunting for a lunch spot and stumbled upon Trellis Café—so glad we did. The staff was friendly, the lobster roll was off the charts, and the burger was incredible. The roasted new potatoes? Chef’s kiss. Lots of gluten-free options. If you’re hungry in Hubbards, this place is a must. Highly recommend!

10/10! We came to Trellis and expected good food. What we got was amazing food!! The salad was fresh, crisp and flavourful. The burgers were juicy and perfectly cooked - a generous size as well! The star here was the pistachio chicken. It is a must try if you go here! Trellis exceeded our expectations. If you are in the area and looking for great food and a cozy atmosphere, this is the place to go. We can’t wait to come back!

A little gem in Hubbards, bread was made fresh and might have been the best I'd ever had. Also tried the African Peanut soup and it was delicious .

A small restaurant with a very simple, unpretentious interior. I would only highlight the beautiful and cozy veranda with plants on top. Very friendly staff. My wife and I ordered Seafood chowder and a Trellis fishcakes. The prices are a little higher than we would like, but we never regretted coming here, as we really liked both dishes and bright communication with a touch of humor.

Very nice little place. Friendly staff. Family run. Nice outdoor seating by the water (and the road) in good weather. Soup of the day (quinoa and vegetable) was delicious and hearty. Sandwiches made with thick-cut, fresh bread. The fillings in my sandwich were a little on the skimpy side (avocado and cheese). Worth a visit.

Credit card payment was not available today and we had very little cash with us. Sorry Gibby, would have liked to leave you a much bigger tip. The food was excellent and the service impeccable.
