We happened upon this gem if a restaurant after driving the Cabot Trail. We immediately felt welcomed , even though the place was full to capacity.
The food was delicious and the friendly, attentive service lended to the lively congenial atmosphere. The decor is warm and comfortable. I look forward to another meal as soon as possible.

The highlight of our trip. The fiddler was the former premier. More important he was amazing. His family was there and they actually talked us into getting up and dancing a reel (we had no idea how but it was SO fun). I knew the place would be fun based in reviews, but w
as surprised how good the food was. Something I would expect at a gourmet restaurant. Im glad we were told to get there 1.5 hrs before music to ensure we got a table, although it may be easier in off-season.

On a holiday from Alberta and wanted to check this place out. They had entertainment scheduled for the night and went to checked it out!! It was really busy, but was able to get a seat for 4 people close to where the performers were and when they started to play. It was very energetic and fun!!! Food was absolutely wonderful and the service was really great! Even for how busy it was!!! I had such a great time. I intend to return the next time I come back to Cape Breton!! Thanks for the memory and fun time!!!!

Definitely a spot to visit in the evening for the music; the service was great and friendly, and the atmosphere was very cozy even during lunch when there aren't any performances. The bowl of chowder was $22 and nothing special.

U never disappoint, ur food is a good as the fine dining anywhere on the continent. Ur a local place with a home feeling ,with classic capebreton music 🎶 in the background, I had ur fish 🐟 wich was nice an crisp batter n thing plump filled inside cooked to perfection. My wife's wings were delicious as well as I tried one .This nice home feeling is probably something ur staff should be very proud of .I've been waiting years to this and im delighted as I thought i would be.ur waitress with wonderful welcome smile was an honest treat. Thank u for having a world class pub in small town nova Scotia.

Okay place to stop if you’re hungry – the good rating drew us in, but the experience was so-so.

Friendly service, nicely decorated, good selection, but the food was average.
Sweet potato fries were good, burger below average, wraps and salad okay but nothing special.

For us, the experience was definitely less than a 4.6

Meh. There's much better fare on the island for a much better price. Fish wasn't as fresh as I'm accustomed to having.

We travelled from BC and visiting The Red Shoe Pub was high on our list.. and we are sure glad we did! The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the staff are incredible. Our Friday night’s dinner was delicious and the musical performance of fiddle player Rachel Davis and Jordan Roach on keyboards was probably the very best live music show I have ever seen. We had such a wonderful evening that we went back Saturday and once again had a spectacular meal and an incredible live music show with Stephanie MacDonald playing the fiddle and Susan MacLean playing the piano. I have never written a review before but I really wanted to share what an incredible memory making experience we had at The Red Shoe Pub . Angie, Brenda and Elizabeth helped to make it extra special 💜😊

The Red Shoe Pub is such a vibe!

The mussels appetizer? Unbelievable. You gotta try them, they're totally worth it.

And the live music is just fantastic, it really makes the whole night.

A must-visit in Mabou or when in the area playing golf at Cabot Cliffs.
