This place is an absolute gem, we could have happily stayed there all night! The seafood chowder was rich and delicious, the banana split and gingerbread were perfect on a cold night. So glad we found this place as we passed through!

Excellent food, great staff
Outstanding vibe and food. The sisters go out of their way to make you feel at home. Nightly Irish music is fabulous. The Philly steak sandwich and seafood chowder were excellent.

So much fun, great vibe and we weren't rushed to eat and get out. It made me think how unique this is these days. The food was very good and the servers were friendly and helpful. There is not a thing to improve upon! Thank you for such a good evening!

This place is great! They had dairy and gluten free options, and an accessible entrance on the side. The service was wonderful and there was a show that evening with live music. I was very happy with my meal. The fish was cooked perfectly. Not a cheap meal, but about what you would expect for the quality.
Dietary restrictions: I ate gluten and dairy free fish. Instead of deep frying, they pan fried the fish. The fries had risk of contamination, but are not coated in flour.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a side door that is wheelchair accessible, but it doesn't have a button and is usually locked. You need to call or get someone else to go in to ask them to let you in.

So wonderful. The chowder is to die for. Best I've tasted yet. My only suggestion. Pro the door open during music for those waiting outside lol. I know they would have paid the cover lol

An absolute MUST for any visitor to Cape Briton and Nova Scotia. The people, music, food, service, and atmosphere is THE best of any pub I've ever visited, here or abroad. Ready to return tomorrow, and am highly recommending to any family or friend visiting the island. WONDERFUL and SO MUCH FUN.

Our waitress was very friendly. She told us that The Red Shoe was owned by the Rankin Family which made the whole experience very special.

The food here is to die for, like delicious. You must try the “not your typical banana split”.
The downside - the front door read “live music $10 cover charge 8-11pm”. We were sat down, ordered our drinks, and as they arrived we were told they hadn’t updated the door and it was 4-7pm live music and we would be charged for a cover charge. It put us in a position that made us feel bad to leave as our drinks arrived and our food order had been put in.
It added an additional (unexpected) $30 to our bill. We would’ve chosen somewhere else to eat if we had known this. Just wish they would’ve given us the courtesy of not charging us because their door wasn’t updated.
