Red Cap Restaurant and Motel

Visited here in August and had the haddock with lobster sauce. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. It was melt in your mouth good. I can't say enough good things about that lobster sauce! Would definitely recommend!

Stayed one night going to fishing to Pubnico. Trying to book in web but
booking web is unavailable so just dropped in and got room.
Room is very big with 2 beds and equipped with new air conditioner and clean bathroom and well maintained.
Restaurant besides motel has good menus for travelers.
Strongly recommend when you are traveling that area .

The lobster cream sauce is so good it made my girlfriend cry. Enough said.

- menus delivered by someone who stared at my partner with a look of shock on her face.
- waitress took our order and quickly turned to walk away, I had to call her back to complete our order. It wasn’t busy, there were only 4 other people in the entire restaurant.
- my partner finished her salad, placing the knife and fork on the plate. When the waitress picked up the plate, never looking at my partner, took the knife and rudely dropped it on the table. She didn't place it on a napkin, she just dropped it on the table.
- asking what deserts were available, we received a curt reply and one menu was put in front of me, again not acknowledging my partner.

This waitress only spoke to me, a white man from NS. My partner who is black and from Brazil was treated rudely. I interpreted these actions as racist.

The food was good, the motel was clean and comfortable. The dining experience wasn’t great.

I need to add to my previous review.
Last night I shared dinner with a friend there and I was extremely dissapointed with the food as well as service.
The fried clams were no clams but a lot of clumps of fried flour.
The Caesar drink was not drikeable as it was extremely spicy
I didn’t want a load of fried flour, but just about 6-8 fried clams
This restaurant is having a cook problem and I will not go back until they fix it
This restaurant is a jewel. Moved here from Ontario in 2022 and Red Cap is the best I experienced in the area.

Ordered mushroom caps they were great but the dipping sauce had a hair in it. Poutine gravy had no taste and the fried haddock tasted like plastic also no flavour.

My girls and I always love coming “ down home” and heading to the red cap! Everything is amazing there from the food, service , and atmosphere. The haddock With lobster sauce is the bomb!

I found the Red Cap about a year ago while driving through Pubnico and wasn't disappointed. I have to say that I've enjoyed it so much, I recommended it to my best friend, and have taken him there several times this past year. It has become one of my favourite places to eat in Yarmouth County. The food is delicious, and the service is fast and amazing. I will definitely be back.
