My partner & I stopped in for the first time September 28th. We were welcomed by Megan our waitress. She was very friendly and suggested a few food items. She suggested wings for our appetizer. Once the wings came and we tasted, they were the best wings we had. For our mains we had fish & chips and beef dip. They were also delicious with very good portions. Did I mention the food came very fast. We are both from Halifax and was on a camping trip. Will definitely make the thistle a regular stop over the summer & fall months.

Was a little weary when we walked up to this establishment, it didn't look like much from the outside. As the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover!! We had a fabulous meal on the patio and our server was gracious and provided excellent service. Would definitely go back.

Do not let this humble place's appearance and location turn you away. The locals show up here in large numbers, the smell of beer, sounds of music and laughter is worth the wait. It was about 7:00 pm when I arrived on a Friday night and I had to wait a bit. The food is solid pub fare and very tasty. I loved sitting out on the patio and listening to the local jam belting out our favorite tunes. This place is the beating heart of New Glasgow and I look forward to our next visit!

A month later still thinking about those fries! Perfect fresh cut fries. Super dog friendly. Dropped in while driving around this summer, patio was not only dog friendly but had a separate area for us with water dishes for canine friends.

The portion of potato skins for $17 was quite small. The potato skins actually looks more like a side dish. The fish tacos were not great. The service was great and the atmosphere was fine. Debatable on whether or not to return.

Made a trip to New Glasgow and decided to go to the Thistle-we used to go often when we lived in New Glasgow. First off wings were excellent- a different waitress dropped off wings to the table- no utensils or napkins- Deb had to go up to bar to get some as everyone knows you can`t eat wings without some napkins- we waited for a casear salad that we ordered never did make it to table! We waited for a little while once we finished eating-still no waitress! Deb went up to bar and requested a take home tray and also asked for a bill-pointing out that there had better not be a charge for a casear salad ordered but never delivered. We put leftovers in take away. Finally our waitress shows up- however no bill- she half heartedly apologized but it seemed to lack sincerity. We went to bar to pay bill, I made sure no casear charged on bill- I left $2.50 for tip as service was extremely poor. Most likely to avoid going to the Thistle in future.
