We were unsure when we were first handed the dinner menu as only the grilled vegetable salad looked like it would be an option, but the server explained they can veganize any of their pastas by using coconut milk for the creamy sauces and adding tofu. We enjoyed the modified carbonara and maple curry pastas and both were great!
We have always loved Mike and all the Black Spoon Crew, but today they absolutely went above and beyond to provide exquisite meals, exceptional service and incredible dependability! They prepared over 15 delicious lunch items for our event, organized it exactly to our needs and maintained their flavourful standard in every meal!! Thank you Black Spoon for your outstanding service ❤️
The seafood chowder is the best.10/10 and our server Jeremy is great at his job.Very friendly😊
Had a date last night for our 7 year anniversary. It was phenomenal from the wait staff, all the way down to the bread. My partner had the feature and it was delicious! I had the Chipotle penne and oh my gosh was it ever creamy and so good with just a hint of spice. We shared the mushroom appetizer and it was also beautifully done! Absolutely would dine here again! we will be back! 🥰

A nice restaurant, personal service, quality food and presentation, and a really nice choice. That said, if you wish to 'dine' and have an evening experience, Black Spoon is not the place. When calling to confirm our 7PM reservation, we were informed seating was for 90 minutes. We moved our reservation up to 6:15PM and were told we could linger and not worry at that time slot. So, enjoying a couple of drinks while we let our wine open, at 7PM they strongly pressed us to order our main course. This was 45 minutes into our evening. We hadn't had our appetizer yet, but the push from the kitchen continued as 'we try to get our orders to the kitchen by 7PM.' We firmly said no at least twice. We understand this isn't a big city, and owners would want staff out on time, but again, we were not comfortable at all with changing our reservation so this wouldn't happen, and it happened. A good bite out, certainly. An evening? we would suggest elsewhere.

We found this bistro during our visit to North Sydney and were delighted with the level of service (our waiter person was Jeremy), the way the food was presented and of course, how it tasted. Well worth the visit

First time here for me and it was excellent. Very attentive servers and the food is top notch. Love a healthy, trendy bistro style menu. Very reasonable prices for lunch given the upscale atmosphere, only $20 for sandwich side salad and tea. I had the Jalapeño Grilled Cheese with side garden salad. Very good, will return. Note: they only take debit cards & cash. No credit

The food we had was excellent, particularly the scallops. We had the blackened seafood medley with GF pasta and bread, and the grilled vegetable salad. Most menu options have a gluten free option. We finished with a GF peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake. Outstanding service as well.

I was very happy stopping here to rest and fuel up before the travelling day. They are very knowledgeable about vegans and have multiple options to cater to our needs. I got the sweet potato burger which was a delightful and fresh tasting. I opted for getting the grilled salad and it was one of the best salads I’ve ever had! Nice warm grilled veggies on a cool autumn day was just what I needed. You can opt to add tofu for protein if you desire. It came with their in house made maple balsamic salad dressing which was the star of the show. You can purchase the salad dressing to go and if I had a refrigerator to bring it back home I would have that everyday on my salads, it was sooo tasty! They have lots of drink choices, I got the local rosé cider (apple cranberry) and it was tart and tasty. The service was splendid and very friendly. Go visit this restaurant, it’s definitely worth it.
