As always food, service, atmosphere was absolutely amazing. From our starters to our main course. Can't wait to go back. My husband had maple curry spring rolls and I had grilled vegetable salad to start. Our main was Cajun seafood pasta for him and myself I had salmon. The thing I love about the many years of dining there is never disappoints. Thank you to the Blacks and their wonderful staff.

We enjoyed every bite of our delicious meals. The vegan options were delicious and all the food was beautifully presented. The staff were so friendly. A great experience in every way.
Food was above average, menu is focused on seafood and pasta.
The blackened salmon was well prepared and tasty.
The atmosphere is basic, feels like a diner.
Service was good but not great.

Everytime me an and my family go into the blackpool the food, the hospitality, the presence, absolutely a beautiful experience. Everyone should try and take a trip in there. Their prices are not extremely expensive for the quality of food.

Top notch service and a varied menu of really good selections. The Black Spoon does not take reservations, but uses a waiting list, so we just walked ked across the street to the Higher Grounds Cafe for a drink while we waited to be called. Between the Black Spoon and the Lobster Pound and Moore, North Sydney has what may be the two best restaurants on Cape Breton Island.
Seafood chowder was prepared simply but so incredibly skillfully it can only be called perfect

We came here as a last dinner at a restaurant with my husband’s godparents and my toddler. We ordered the seafood pasta, mushroom cheese appetizer thing, seafood chowder, a grilled veggies salad and chipotle chicken pasta. Overall, I thought the food was pretty decent. Unfortunately, we also felt like a lot of flavours of our dishes were similar in a sense because they were all creamy. The mushrooms were very cheesy and also creamy. I think you could skip the mushrooms. The salad was great. If I come back here, I’ll try something else other than the dishes we ordered because they were kind of similar. Overall, the restaurant was busy.

Oct 9 we were drawn to lack Spoon Bistro by comments from other diners made here and the photos we saw. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the meal we ordered was exceptional. Everything tasted fresh and tasted freshly prepared. Two attached photos speak volumes about the quality of Black Spoon Bistro. Cheers!

My wife and I have eaten at the Black Spoon on a number of occasions and we both agree that the only complaint we have is that this exceptional restaurant is not located closer to our place in Cole Harbour. We ate there again on Fri., Oct. 10 and once again had nothing but raving reviews about everything - the food, the service, the atmosphere. And we both agreed that the Black Spoon has to be one of the best restaurants in all of Nova Scotia. The trio available for lunch has to be one of the best bargains anyone could find, superb food, tremendous variety, and very reasonably priced. My wife said the herbal soup she had yesterday was one of the best she had ever tasted, the chicken sandwich very fresh, tasty, and plentiful. I decided to try the caesar salad and it was excellent, large in size, very fresh, with just enough zip. The seafood chowder was the the star for me! It featured a very plentiful mixture of shrimp, scallops, lobster, and mussels in a very favourful thick, but not too thick, hearty broth. I must admit I would have liked a small toasted, garlic bun with it. Thanks to all for a most enjoyable lunch, we can't wait for a return visit. I know of a few locations here that could be a booming success for a second Black Spoon!

We arrive at restaurant at 6:15pm , ordered food and waited 1 hour for food, no apology, no updates nothing. Other patrons came in ordered ate and left. We finally left restaurant at 8pm. Thank god we had lots of time to kill for the ferry. We asked if we would get a discount or anything and the reply was “we don’t give discounts”.
