The Nook and Cranny: On The Water.

Unfortunately I can't recommend this restaurant. Service wasn't great and the food wasn't very good either. I had something called a 'Hodge Podge' which was supposed to be a traditional seafood and vegetable dish, sort of like a stew/soup. Recommended by the server. It had over cooked roast potatoes and other undercooked but charred vegetables and an unbattered piece of salmon that appeared to have been cooked in a deep fryer. Not a nice way to treat salmon, even if it was previously frozen. 😬

Stopped here for a bite before catching the ferry to PEI and so glad we did! That was the best meal we’ve had in a long time, with the fabulous Jason as our guide who served us. The hot honey chicken sandwich, the beef satay along with the seasonal salad with apples were AMAZING. We literally moaned while eating it! Jason was a welcoming and enthusiastic server, letting us know that he loved the Nook & Cranny so much when he moved to Pictou, he thought, why not work here!? We get it now—what a find! And bonus that we could eat outside right be the water!

A very good dinner with excellent service from the young man who also ran the bar. We were a little put off by a couple of previous reviews that basically trashed the place, but our experience was totally positive. My wife had the spicy dill fish sandwich, which was excellent and a huge serving, and I had the mussels which were good, if not as big and plump as the best I have ever had before -- but the white wine broth was very good. Our server was more attentive than expected, checking several times to see if we needed anything. And the chocolate brownie/ice cream/caramel sauce dessert was decadently good. We were too early for the live music, and didn't wait around for it.

We came here looking for vegan options and it didn’t disappoint! I got a curry power bowl with extra tofu, and my partner ordered a falafel pita with fries, just asking to remove the honey yogurt sauce. Both dishes were great.
It’s not always easy to find vegan options, so we’re really glad we did. The only downside was that they didn’t have a vegan dessert, and I hope in the future they’ll add at least one option.

The waiter dropped a glass of water across my lap. Fries were overcooked and dry throughout. Chicken sandwich was overcooked. Portobello burger was great.

Good food, a bit pricy but tastes amazing. Portions were a bit smaller than what we were used to. Had bison smash buger, was still hungry after. Most places we go to I have lots leftover so to leave still hungery was not great. Waitress was great. Bun was greasy on top and fries were a bit over cooked. The plate was small so it looked like a lot more then what was really there.

Loved it. The seafood chowder and lobster roll were delicious. The servers were great. Super friendly and helpful. And the location can't be beat. Great view and breeze off the water.
