Waterview Restaurant - Downtown Pictou, NS

My husband and I stopped in Pictou to sightsee and try delicious seafood 🍤. We had our 14 yr old yorkiepoo with us. The waterview waitress was so kind said we could sit on the outdoor patio with him and order food. She brought Toby water bowl. Extremely good service and food was delicious. Made our journey in Pictou memorable. Highly recommend this place!

Food was delightful, do not miss the mussels! Excellent non-GF and gluten free. The seafood platter did not disappoint. Would go again!

We have eaten there. and taken from there several times now. Overall, I would give it a high rating overall. It has a pizza takeout on Water street, with a full resturant "behind", accessible from the street or from a shared parking lot with the De Cost Centre next door.
Out of all the things we have eaten there so far, it has all been good eating!
...Except for the "small snack" I had for my supper this evening, which I was expecting a meal! Don't get me wrong, it was tasty! It was the portion size for the cost that was way off! I had their Seafood Specialties","Shrimp Tacos" for $16.99, and I upgraded my side to a small salad, for another $2.99. Which I'm glad I did! The issue I have directly, and only relates to, the 2, bite size tacos! ...actually, maybe 6 bites, and I was done! While everyone else at the table was only half done. It does mention on the menu 2 tacos... it should say, 2 very small tacos, and be on the appy menu, and for a lot less money, there is no value as it is! If you are going to serve tacos that small as a meal, at minimum 4, but 6 tacos would be about right! It is not like Tacos are expensive to make. So my complaint is, 2 very small "appy" tacos & a small side salad for $20.00 and I went away very hungry! So hungry, I got home and cooked myself a meal. We will be going back, everything else we have had there is good, I just will not have the Shrimp tacos again...!

Food was decent... fish and chips were a bit greasy but decent. Good arrived hot and quickly. Price is better than other nearby options. Server was lovely... very attentive. Would return.

We did a Maritime tour and ate all over PEI, NB, and NS and the food here was some of the BEST! Sammy made us feel like old friends and our servers were all warm and friendly. We went 3 times in 4 days and each time food was amazing! Generous portions, especially the Shish Tawook. Donair bites are scrumptious and his donair sauce is perfection. Just a top notch experience from start to finish, will absolutely be back next time we visit NS?

Frozen products, uncontrolled cooking.
Maple salmon: overcooked, dry consistency, no sauce. The steamed vegetables are bathed in their water, the rice is plain. It would have been necessary to marinate the salmon and reduce its cooking juices to coat the dish. You need to cook the salmon less.
The seafood and fish plate includes 4 mussels that are too dry and plain, 4 scallops that are tasteless because they are too frozen, 2 flavorless shrimp and a fillet of dry haddock. No sauce with the steamed vegetables or the rice.
Much too expensive for the quality of these 2 dishes.
The chef must read cookbooks and taste his dishes before putting them on the menu.
I don't recommend.

This was my first time visiting Waterview Restaurant. I'll start by saying there's nothing wrong with the food, but with a few simple upgrades, it would be much better. I ordered the muscles and pan-fried haddock. I was told that there was a problem with the muscles related to an inconsistency in size. I was informed that this created a problem when cooking them. I was about to question why not start with the larger muscles than add the smaller ones a few seconds late. I did see a seafood plater being served with muscles. Apparently, the sizing issue was resolved.

I did order the humus starter. Very plan, Jane. Sorry, Jane. Plain humus served with deep fried pita chips. The addition of herds, lemon, or spiced oil would definitely be an improvement. I don't understand the deep-fried chips.

The main (pan fried haddock) was served with steamed frozen vegetables and rice. All cooked well, but simply serving fresh steamed vegetables with a little butter and seasoning would have such an improvement. I understand that frozen vegetables are easy for a restaurant but so disappointing. The fish was cooked properly, but again, serving it with a lemon wedge, fresh herbs, or a sauce (something) would help with the overall meal. It's simple but so important. Rice - plain rice. A world of possibilities. But it was plain rice.

Again, nothing wrong but could be so much better.

A bit disappointed. We choose this place based on the google reviews, vegetarian options, seafood options, and that it had some water views. We were excited to try the chicken tawouk, but while flavourful, it was dry 3/5. The biggest disappointment was the scallop dinner. For 24.99, I received only 5 small/medium sized sautéed scallops, mashed potatoes, and a small portion of carrots/broccoli mix. The scallops weren’t particularly special and quite bland. 1/5. The fish sandwich was excellent 5/5. The falafel was 5/5. The service was great. The view/atmosphere was ok. Based on the reviews here, I expected better food.

The best chicken shawarma I've tasted in Nova Scotia!?? The wrap was grilled and a lil crispy at the edges, inside is juicy and tasty. The place is pristine ( You'll be surprised! ) and Kanush's service with a smile is awesome! ? washroom is clean and smells good. We had a good time. A restaurant to visit in Pictou! ?

Everything was really good. It wasn't too busy at 2pm, though it was raining heavy outside, so that is expected. Glenn was very nice and was a great server. The atmosphere was very nice, from the lights to the music, everything was great.

Beautiful place, staff was wonderful, but the food was awful. My husband and I both ordered the fish burger and fries. The fries were crispy but these are just your regular Cavendish crispy fries... the gravy was disgusting and tasted more like a whole clove of garlic. The burger had to be the biggest disappointment.... basically doughy and tasteless. coleslaw on a very doughy bun with more bun than fish. and a tiny piece of haddock in which I could barely taste. Decided to come here and try for a date.... our date was a pretty sad state of affairs after that money was wasted. Heard some good things but I think the pizza and beef burgers are what you should be ordering and nothing else.

Loved our server. She was very sweet and I regret forgetting her name because I’d love to shout her out! We got the maple salmon and it was very good. The rice was also sooo good. The serving was large and we couldn’t even finish all our food. Would recommend!
