Don’t listen to the haters. All the items on my combo plate were really tasty. I definitely recommend Yaps. Wish i had a Yaps in my neighborhood.

I don’t know if we just had bad luck. But we were staying 3 min away and decided to try it but we ordered fried rice and chicken chow mein and 1) they forgot the noodles for the chow mein and the topping was bland and gross and 2) the fried rice “chefs special” had no flavour. It was closed when we finally were going to eat (take out) and we are gone before it opens. $35 wasted.

UPDATE - My husband was the only one who ate any of this food and today (next morning) he has food poisoning!

We live just 20 minutes away from Yaps and have ordered from them many times before — but after this experience, we won’t be going back. The food this time was absolutely terrible. It didn’t just taste bad — it tasted spoiled. The sweet and sour chicken was so chewy I had to spit it out. My sister was horrified at first, thinking I was being rude… until she tried it herself and ended up doing the exact same thing.

The egg rolls were burnt, and the way they packaged the takeout was honestly not sanitary. Both sweet and sour chicken dishes were sent without a proper lid — just tinfoil wrapped loosely over the container. That’s unacceptable, especially for hot food meant to travel.

We called them right away and drove the 20 minutes back to return the order. So that’s 40 minutes round trip just to bring it back, and another 40 minutes we had already spent picking it up in the first place. We were starving — trust me, if the food had been remotely edible, we would have eaten it.

To their credit, they did issue a refund. But the woman who dealt with us was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of offering a simple apology, she insisted the food was fine and claimed she had tried it earlier and it tasted okay — as if that had anything to do with the dish we brought back over an hour later. She argued about the egg rolls being burnt and refused to take any responsibility.

A simple “Sorry about that” would have gone a long way — but instead, we were met with attitude, excuses, and absolutely no accountability for the quality of the food or the way we were treated. After being loyal customers for so long, this experience was beyond disappointing. We won’t be ordering from Yaps again!!

Ordered the dinner for 4, everything was delicious.

Customer service is great. I like the food too. Food portion was good and taste was good too.

An extremely busy New Year’s Eve at Yaps but staff went over & above. With my husband in a wheelchair, the staff assisted with a ramp and ensured a smooth, comfortable experience, effortlessly. The food was delicious and so many friendly faces coming & going. It was one of the most pleasant outings we’ve had in terms of accessibility and staff care.

Wheelchair accessibility: My husband is in a power wheelchair and it is very difficult to get in and out of places. Staff immediately got a ramp and assisted us in & out. Very caring.

Friendly staff, small town, amazing chinese food, Canadian menu as well, family orientated business, BEST eggroles around - don't leave River John without at least trying the eggroles at this place!
