It's not often I'll dish out a five-star review, primarily because I have a black belt in Karen when it comes to businesses in Downtown Sydney, but goodness gracious by the green grass. This establishment is superb, stellar, all the s-words except the bad one. Natalie is beyond efficient with her work to swiftly craft my black coffee, as black as the midnight sun, and Katherine's overly contagious smile just highlights my day that Vicodin can usually only fix. The staff, great beverages and snacks, and customers create a warm and cozy vibe you won't find in any other coffee shop around town, at least until the mainland. Though, I do often have cookies thrown at me, yet I won't ding off any points until one hits me in the face.
Bravo, James.

So cute! Best iced lattes in CB :)
Pecan tarte is amazing. Tasty coffee and wonderful service. The place is so cozy.
Three times in a row recently and several other times as well, I have been to D.L.’s and have ordered either an Americano or a dark roast coffee and each time it has been so watery and flavorless, I either poured it out after just a couple of sips or as I did today, took just one sip and passed it back to the server and told them it was watery and flavorless and left. I’ll NEVER waste another dime in Doktor Luke’s. It used to have great coffee. I don’t know what changes have been made but the coffee has been terrible the last couple of years. If you like rich, flavorful coffee, this is NOT the place for you.
Several Years Later Update: Still the best coffee in Sydney. The staff is a rotating carousel of wonderful people. I'm always in a better mood after visiting. This is a must see stop for coffee lovers in Cape Breton!

We stop by whenever we're in Sydney. Friendly staff and great coffee in a nice quiet spot. It's a great place to take a little break.

A cozy coffee house. Limited eats but a nice place to come in a relax.
We were just passing through town and wanted to support a local coffee shop and found Doktor Luke’s on Google maps not far from our hotel so had to try it out - and we loved it. We got a drip coffee (Peruvian lighter roast) and a green tea and an oat cake and sat inside at one of the many tables. There were some games and a few books - one on coffee that was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend!
