Building itself was so cute, love the feel of this place. Service staff was great, very friendly and made us feel at home. Also found that blue lobster vodka sodas are my new favorite thing.
Music is Too loud, steak was grissly, fries cold undercooked, served warm white wine. My 4th time here and it is never great, I never judge on a single experience.

My wife and I had the pleasure having lunch at Governors Pub today. Nicki was our server, she was the best really enjoyed visiting with her. The food was amazing we had seafood chowder and lobster rolls and tiramisu for dessert. The meal was top shelf.

Governors Pub & Eatery — oh, where do I even begin?
After five days on the road, I waltzed in expecting my go-to goat cheese salad to hug me like an old friend. Instead, it arrived looking like it had been ghosted by the goat. 🐐💔 Meanwhile, my virgin Moscow mule was served with lime juice that tasted like it had survived the Great Depression.
But let’s give credit where credit is due: the arancini mozzarella balls were a full-on standing ovation, 10/10. Calamari? Practically auditioning for a cooking show, solid 9/10. Goat cheese salad? 5/10, not even invited to the reunion.
Service-wise, the water stayed emptier than a Care Bear’s tummy after sharing all their snacks. And I could sense our waitress wanted to ship me off on the next ferry. Normally, this is our Sydney stop — but after this rollercoaster, we’ll probably try a new spot next time.

Pretty typical Irish pub fare to be found here. Decent amount of drinks on tap, cocktails felt rather weak and watered down. Food was also pretty mediocre, the only thing I'd suggest grabbing here is the poutine, the gravy served with it was delicious, but the rest of the dishes were pretty meh. Was warned service would be slow when our party came in, which was welcome, but it's clear this place is dealing with staffing and upkeep issues. We sat outside and got a bit cold as the sun went down. The outdoor heaters were either broken, or the staff and our group couldn't figure out how to get them going. Also gotta take some points off for the state of the bathrooms, big time fly infestation in the men's room along with no dividers in the urinals.
For why I'm not rating this lower, the servers are very friendly and welcoming even though they seem overworked, the food is pretty cheap, and if you're a local looking for a fun and cheap date spot, this place fits the bill. They have live music here too. This could be a really fun spot with some improvements to the bathrooms and food quality. Until then, it's a meh to decent place.

Pasta was overcooked, fish cake bites had too much crust, seafood chowder seafood was severely overdone and very chewy. Lobster roll was ok but very soggy bread. Quite disappointed

Made a detour in Sydney for food on the way to Halifax from Cape Breton. Very glad we did. Best meal I've had in a long time (got the arancini appetizer and maple glaze salmon for dinner), the service was great, and the balcony seating was perfect. And very reasonably priced to boot. If I lived closer I would go frequently!

One of my all-time favourite restaurants in Nova Scotia!
Great service, great atmosphere year-round, and always delicious food.
If you're in Cape Breton this is a must do while you're here!
