Things didn’t start out well as I was ignored after walking in. Two women looked at me and went on with their business. There was one table occupied so I thought maybe they weren’t open for business after all? I approached the front counter and when the woman finally acknowledged my presence, I asked if they were open for lunch. She was quite hostile with her reply that they were. I was taken aback but decided to not take it personally so I said that there were five of us. She handed over six menus (?!) and went back to whatever she was doing. My friends had entered by then so we sat down. The wife had witnessed the hostile reception but her husband didn’t so he cracked a joke about her being busy running a one-woman show and she retorted, “That’s everyday!” But that acknowledgement seemed to break the ice and our continued friendliness seemed to soften her. My husband finally arrived after finding a parking spot so he had no idea what transpired. My friend asked if I wanted to leave but I thought the reviews must be good for a reason. Plus, our friends’ 9-year-old was hungry so I thought we’d give it a go. The server was a bit gruff but she seemed to take a shine to our friends’ boy and things became markedly less hostile as time went on. The food was decent, nothing great but nothing terrible. By the end of everything, we had a pleasant time overall. Would I return? No, because the service could definitely have been better and the food was just okay. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they had a rush with the cruise ship passengers and she had to deal with demanding, entitled customers but taking it out on subsequent customers is not acceptable. Based on the mostly positive reviews, I hope this was a one-off so I won’t say don’t come here but there are much better options locally with better quality food and better service.

Very cute cafe, we stopped in Sydney as part of a cruise, and saw a flyer for Louann's at a craft fair in the Royal Canadian Legion 138 and decided to try it. Very warm and welcoming atmosphere, super yummy cinnamon roll and chocolate chip cookies, feels like a lovely little neighborhood stop.

This quaint cafe located in Sydney is perfect for breakfast, a morning snack or light lunch. The food is hand prepared by a lovely group of ladies who wrangle this cafe. A great place to grab a coffee and pie for that morning break.

I had an amazing iced coffee and a cranberry muffin cure. Staff was very friendly and services quick. It can get busy and I did see only one workers so she could get slammed. Do be kind

Delicious! So worth the reasonable price! Met Louann! Such a sweetheart! Had the Louann's breakfast, and mom and my Mary had the French toast! Bacon was cooked to perfection! Everything else was wonderful!

Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly! A definite highlight on our first trip to the East Coast!!!
My wife and I shared a marvelous cinnamon roll and a delicious scone at Louann's Cafe this morning. Louann even stopped by the table to share some cinnamon roll making tips.

I don’t understand why this place is rated so highly. The food is fine, but nothing better than I could have easily made at home. The service was fine as well, but the atmosphere was lacking with really dated sparse decor and empty egg boxes around. Would not go back.

We were hopeful and extremely disappointed. We are visiting Sydney and saw the ratings so we had to go and we should have stayed home. Restaurant is nice enough and clean inside but the kitchen is barely a kitchen. We also got basic breakfast items and waited an hour and there were maybe 15 people. It was super smokey cuz there's no ventilation. And to top it all off, they charged us twice! The waitress did not realize I had already paid and when my husband went to pay not knowing I had..... the same waitress who served us changed us again! And had to look up the price on the menu and charged my husband without a ticket!!! Worst breakfast spot and for $12.99 for a bagel sandwich & frozen reheated hashbrown, we would have gotten better at McDonald's!!!
