We visited The Dory tonight and we are so glad we did! Make a reservation for sure, because it was quite busy, but it was so worth the wait. The portions were larger than expected and every dish was full of flavour and so perfect. The seafood chowder is to die for - my husband said he wished it was a bottomless bowl. The staff was very attentive despite the busy-ness. Overall an incredibly positive experience.Dietary restrictions: As someone with Celiac disease I was grateful for the number of safe options that there were available and how delicious the options were!

This is a great place to go and have a meal if you don't mind a little bit of noise. We went there on a Friday night which was obviously when many people had been paid and had just finished work for the week so they were out for a little bit of R&R. The result was that it was a little bit noisier than suits my taste.I have never had better service, and the food was absolutely fantastic. When I go again (and I will!) It will be during the week when the crowd will be somewhat less boisterous.

Absolutely the worst experience on our last trip to Sydney. The table was just outside the kitchen pass through window, bright light in your face plus kitchen noise. Server was curt and not friendly in the least. Perturbed when I dared to ask for a glass of water, almost like I was bothering her. Definitely no east coast warmth from her.If that wasn't bad enough the food was tasteless, 5 out of 7 had fish and chips, 5 out of 7 agreed they were bland at best, no amount of salt or vinegar could fix them. The coleslaw was like eating sawdust.Fish and chips, a definite must have when visiting the east coast, just have it some place else!

Food was very good. Service was good but no water refills. A bar atmosphere but nothing really exciting.

Great place to stop with friends there was very little space available however there was extra space when we arrived and were given a table that wasn't going to be available at 7 however we stayed past the time without an issue and it appeared that the restaurant still was not full when we departed.

This place has the best Amaretto Sours I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the burgers. I’m really glad we went in the evening, the lights across the river really adds to the atmosphere. Our server was incredibly friendly and attentive to our table!

August 8 2023 5pm Positive reviews were correct We always start with looking at top ten restaurants on google and trip advisor. What I am most interested in is not the top reviews, I start with the worse reviews. To get an idea about the place. More negative than positive I stay away. With the Dory there are 109 reviews 1 star - 1 2 star - 1 3 star - 1 4 star - 11 5 star - 95 It’s pretty rare to see a place where over 87% of reviews are 5 star. After seeing the glowing reviews, I knew it was a place we had to check out. So we checked out the menu beforehand, knew what we wanted and away we went. Finding the place was a challenge, we drove right by the place before realizing that the street side sign was for the Dobson Yacht club, as you drive into the parking area, you will see there is a building that has a sign above the doors, as you will see. What we noticed is that the place is not overwhelmingly large which is perfect. Less tables makes it feel like being part of a family, and it allows the kitchen crew to serve the food seamlessly. Greeted by the owner asking if we had a reservation, no we just decided we had to get here because of the great reviews. Do you mind a higher seat? Nah any seat will do. It’s all good. Got to our seat at a window with a view of boats on the water, a very nice view Nancy was our server was amazing, so friendly and real nice, however the person who was mentioned by name in most of the rave reviews is Terry, we understand why. Talk about the consummate professional who makes you feel welcome and at home. We ordered One glass Chardonnay blackened Haddock Coleslaw, Tartar Sauce, garlic Mashed Potatoes, 18.99 Seafood Linguine $20.95 Prawns, Mussels, Baby Scallops, Haddock, House Made Garlic Dill Cream Sauce, Sautéed Vegetables Enough to share with each other. The main was as perfect as it gets, cooked well, great mix of flavours throughout. The cream sauce with the linguini is incredible. Lastly we decided to try dessert, we are t dessert people but the meal was so good and we felt pretty good so why not We had coconut cream cheese cake Flourless, chocolate brownie with ice cream I ate some of the cheese cake but did not enjoy it too much for two reasons. I am not a dessert guy, and it was sweeter than I would usually have anything. If I enjoyed sweet things, I’d give it a 4/5 The brownie was good 4/5 for her So our rating is a solid 5 Setting, cleanliness, service, professionalism, quality, and checking back to see how we are doing. They really care about the customers and making them feel like they belong. Cost with tax. 76.82 Tip 23.06 Total 99.87 For the meal we had, the enjoyment and the service. This was a great dinner date night for us. Thanks Dory Family If we every return to Sydney, we will be dropping in for more.
