Food was fantastic! I had the daily special which was the beef tenderloin with a red wine demi glaze and brown butter mashed potatoes and would definitely come back for this meal! However, we came for a birthday which we called ahead and made a reservation and we asked if we were able to take our cake with us. The person we spoke to on the phone said you can bring a cake no problem as long as it’s not ice cream cake as they cannot store outside food in their fridge. (Completely understandable!! Plus it wasn’t an ice cream cake so worked perfectly anyway.) We arrived at the restaurant with our cake as we were told was okay to bring, a staff member approached our table, Troy, (not our server) in not the most friendly manner, and asked if the cake was home made. We told him yes just assuming he was curious and he goes along to tell us that we are not allowed to have our cake in the restaurant even though it was just on our table we never asked them to store it or anything at all we were leaving it on the table till we were ready for dessert. As we own a restaurant ourselves, we question his reason for not allowing us to have our cake, on our table, when the person who took our reservation told us it was okay. He didn’t have an answer and just told us they only allow store bought cakes in the restaurant. This was EXTREMELY dissatisfying to myself and my family along with us to celebrate my dads birthday. We have now finished our dining experience, without an apology or any type of explanation as to why we had to take our cake out to our truck rather than be able to enjoy our homemade cake with our family :(

Great chowder and salad, the service was excellent
Our meal got off to a good start at Trio with the Bread Plate appy. It was plenty for two of us to share as a starter, the veggies were fresh, the balsamic drizzled bread was delicious, and we agreed that the pesto was some of the best we’ve had. Alas, it was all downhill from there.
My husband had the Seafood Alfredo. He said it was very flavourful, but the sauce was runny, there was too much cheese, and the seafood was overcooked.
I had the Haddock Trio. It came with green beans and carrots- the beans were a bit overcooked for my liking. I chose the fries as a side after asking the waiter if they were homemade and being told that they were. They were actually frozen fries, so that was strike one for me. My fish, scallops and shrimp were cooked quite well, but the Béarnaise sauce that accompanied them was very off-putting - overly sweet, I suspect due to a heavy hand with the tarragon.
We shared creme brûlé for dessert and it was ok, although my husband found that the chocolate and berry compote competed flavour-wise with the brule.
The restaurant itself is clean and nice enough but nothing special. Our server Michael was new but very outgoing.
Overall, Trio felt disappointing for the price. We got a “here’s your hat, what’s your hurry” kind of vibe, and the food was, unfortunately mediocre. We wanted to like it, but it’s not likely we will go back.

The food was good when it arrived. Was told that it would be a 20 minute wait before being seated, yet there were a few tables open for just the two of us. We waited for the 20 minutes then decided to sit at a table in the bar. Waited another 10 minutes before taking our order and another 20 before getting our order. The excuse was that the kitchen was slammed by a group of twenty. However, there was a group who Waited at least an hour before someone even took their order. Sad excuse for poor service. Would nor recommend this restaurant.

Some of the best food I’ve had in Nova Scotia! Had to go back for dinner two nights in a row so I could try the glazed salmon and the blueberry bbq chicken.

BEAUTIFUL restaurant. We visited for our first wedding anniversary. The food and drinks were fantastic. Definitely high end. The meals were presented beautiful and our waitress (cannot remember her name) was awesome. So attentive and friendly.

Ate here a few times for breakfast and dinner. Some hotel restaurants can be overpriced hot garbage, thankfully this is pretty solid for a hotel restaurant and reasonably priced. Good food options, the dinner menu is pretty diverse. Breakfast has a solid selection too, the breakfast wrap, omelette, and eggs. Benedict all being great choices.
If you do come here and enjoy funny sarcastic waitresses, ask for Marilyn, she's an absolute riot and deserves a raise and massive tips!

Service was good. Clean. Nice atmosphere and colours but despite a coffered ceiling I find it gets noisy when full and it does get busy. Great drink selection and chicken dishes and burger they seem to have down well. BUT this is the second time their cooking of meat was off: 1st time the steak was undercooked (bloody) and cold; 2nd time the ribs were also undercooked, tough and almost impossible to pull the meat from the bone. The house salad was great, the Caesar apparently tasted off, good but not like a typical Caesar. They don’t get many Vegan or Vegetarian requests so don’t expect anything that way. They can do a vegetarian salad but then it’s just a salad and not worth the $16. Prices overall are reasonable.

Went there for a family dinner, big family, servers where on point very good and attentive, the issue was the chef, for some reason couldn’t cook my steak to a medium all good until the server came back with my steak to the table after returning it sitting how the cook can’t cook it due to it being dry aged. Sounds like a good excuse except for the fact that my two uncles who ordered the same meal got there’s cooked to a medium. Ok moving on, the mash potatoes were cold and couldn’t even melt the butter and asparagus where stringy and thin for being in season. And I wasn’t the only one to complain about their meal plus not to mention that items on the menu are different from items on the online menu so if you look at options don’t be surprised if it’s not there when you look at the in house menu. I could go on with how the tomato sauce is straight outta a can, the fish and chips was 90% batter but I’m going to digress and just say that I was very disappointed and going further this place will not be visited again and I will go out of my way and tell visitors to stay far away and check out the Governor if ya want a good meal. PS meal was comped due to me not wanting to eat a steak not up to standard and not having anything on the menu after my third look through and being told we don’t have this and we don’t serve that.

Very disappointed!!! Our waitress was lovely! However, the first 5 or more things were ordered off the menu were not available. (6pm, 1 hour after opening and NOT busy, maybe 2 other tables). We were told lobster was out of season yet was on the menu…
At such a high priced restaurant, we were told it was too expensive for them to order lobster from another part of the province…. We’re from Ontario, all of our lobster has to be ordered from out of province and is lees expensive, yet always available. We come to the east coast for the seafood!!!
Scallops were cold :(
The drinks were very good, but overall, very disappointed.
We should have left out lovely hotel to get dinner somewhere better

Wanted to go twice during our trip. First visit was ok. Nothing special. Second visit did not happen. We were there the day before to reserve a specific table. We had a 91 year old person with us. When we got there, the table was not available, we offered a table with no view. Very bad service. Basically no apology. Forget about this place.
