Coffee, books, and cats. Genius. My 11 year old daughter begged us to take her there on vacation to Halifax, and we're both so glad we did. The owner is so friendly and welcoming and makes an awesome expresso. Love, love, love this creative nook. We will be back for certain, and you should definitely visit as well.
This quaint little bookstore was very packed, with both books and people. I asked the owner how the pricing structure works and she pointed out a sign that explained how the 40% discount on all books would equate to real-life pricing on her offerings. My little book-dragon and I had over a dozen books lined up, only to find out that several of them were actually REGULAR price. When I asked why, she pointed to the bottom of the aforementioned sign and said "it's in yellow so no one ever really sees it, but any books with pencil numbers in the front cover are full price". She offered no reasonable explanation as to why she didn't tell me that when I asked about pricing, and instead just gave me a shrug. This was especially frustrating as we had been specifically speaking about the full price books when I asked her about the pricing, and I was very excited to be finding books I couldn't otherwise afford. I should mention that the new books were randomly placed on the shelves with the used books. We put the regular priced items back (as we had come looking for discounted books, not being able to afford new shelf price) and went on our way, sad about the lost titles. We felt deceived, like maybe the owner hopes people won't notice if the odd full priced book gets rung up in an otherwise discounted order. To be clear, I have no qualm about having regular priced items in a used book store. My problem is that they were mixed in with the rest, and that she specifically explained the pricing while not mentioning that some were regular price (including the ones we were inquiring about, intending to buy the full set)
The addition of kitties makes it the number one used bookstore in the HRM area
Great selection of books, great prices, warm atmosphere, friendly staff & gorgeous kittens. Was a lovely afternoon!
The cashier was being very rude and blowing off my concerns. There was also a cat up by where they make the food and I’m not sure if that’s sanitary…
Great lil store
Great selection of books....and the kittens are so cute!
Kittens are so cute a lot of toys and there’s very cute cats aswell
A decent selection of used books. Loved spending time with the cats, and I appreciate the good work this cafe is doing by getting so many shelter cats adopted. =^.^=
Great place with wonderful cats.

Great bookshop that has adoptable cats. We ended up getting a great kitty there.
Books and cats. The kids loved it.
Really friendly and helpful staff and a great selection of current, good quality books. The cats give the shop a really cozy, homey feel. I always check here first for books. Most times they have what I’m looking for and if they don’t they offer to notify me when the items arrive. Great customer service!
My kids had an awesome time at the kitty book cafe! The coffee was yummy, and the cats were super friendly and used to being around kids.
For families worried about the kitties' claws, my kids are 2 and 4, and I was only concerned for the first 10 minutes. After that, I was more worried about how gentle my kids were with these cute, friendly kitties.
Just a heads-up: they can't sell food because of the cats, so eat before you arrive, or respectfully bring snacks and keep things clean.
Overall, highly recommend for a fun family outing!
A great used bookstore with a lot of selection… and cats!
