It’s crowded Saturday night so try and eat an early dinner if you can. Safe to say the hype is real. That fish is so fresh and a big portion and the chips are cooked really nice. The salad also adds a good freshness in between! Would recommend and come back if I’m ever in the area

If you're looking for an authentic and delightful dining experience in Yellowknife, Bullock's Bistro is definitely the place to go. We visited on a weekend and arrived just before 4 p.m.—lucky for us, as there were only two tables left! We were glad to be seated right away without having to wait outside in the freezing cold.
We ordered the Pan-fried White Fish, Deep-fried Lake Trout, both pan-fried and deep-fried Arctic Char, and the Buffalo Ribeye. Every dish was incredibly tasty. What stood out the most was how fresh the ingredients were—you could really taste the natural flavors. Each dish also came with its own unique sauce, which made the meal even more enjoyable and suited different preferences.
If you enjoy a drink with your meal, I highly recommend trying their locally brewed beer. It was refreshing and paired wonderfully with the food.
Service was another highlight—our server was friendly and efficient. From ordering to having all the dishes served, it took only about 15 minutes. Impressive!
The only small downside was that they didn’t offer any dessert options. If they had, it would have been a perfect dinner. Still, without a doubt, I would recommend Bullock’s Bistro. Great food, great atmosphere, and wonderful service!

We visited Bullock Bistro twice during our trip, and both experiences were outstanding. I tried the Arctic char—grilled one day and pan-fried the next—and both dishes were absolutely delicious.
We were a party of nine, yet the team made us feel incredibly welcome. They arranged great seating for us, with a few spots at the food bar and the rest right behind it, giving us a perfect view of the lively atmosphere inside. The entire restaurant was buzzing with positive energy, amazing food, and a fantastic ambiance.
Highly recommend Bullock Bistro—exceptional service, great vibes, and food that keeps you coming back!

I find it baffling how this place has been rated so highly on here, and has been recommended countless times by locals as it is mediocre and like how other reviews have mentioned, has plain fish and an uninterested staff.
Only 4 items on the menu was available at the time we ordered, and this wasn’t late into the day- it was around 1pm.
The staff also could not be bothered. It seems like they didn’t really care to provide the service and mostly just sat down and used their phones.
Crazy how this place is labeled the best fish and chips in Canada or the world. For the price point it was not as amazing as you would think it is.
Shell of its former self perhaps? Spend your money elsewhere and skip it if you’re a tourist.

Came for the food, the rest is not as important. Fish was excellent, that’s all I asked for and that’s all I got.

I don’t entirely get the hype but maybe we ordered wrong? Originally from the UK I didn’t want battered and fried so we opted for the pan fried and it came with quite a spicy butter that reminded me of Indian cuisine, it took away the flavour a lot of the fresh fish and it gave me terrible heartburn afterwards. My husband loved the bison stew and said he preferred it to the fish. The place is very small and we didn’t queue as we went at about 2:30pm on Friday. The service was ok, nice enough but bare minimum. The cards and writing on the walls just makes it look tired and grubby, we did have fun emailing a lot of the people though!

Love the portion sizes, we never get fish anywhere south of here because it’s really expensive for the tiniest piece of fish, but not here!
Service was decent, it was weirdly empty and quiet when we visited on a Wednesday night.
Most of us got the pan fried trout, the fish was sweet and probably the best fish I’ve had, above Vancouver and Japan. Also recommend the Arctic Char if they have it, though it’s imported and a fattier fish. Ask for it to be not too well done especially when it’s grilled so you can really appreciate the taste of the fish.
