I used to love this place! Four years ago, the food was excellent, and the prices felt fair for what you got. But sadly, things have really gone downhill. We recently spent $40-50 on a meal here, and it was definitely not worth it.
The fries were incredibly hard, almost like they’d been cooked hours earlier and left to sit, and the portion was tiny. The salad wasn’t any better, small and lacking freshness. It’s disappointing to see how much the portions have shrunk, especially for the price.
Even some locum doctors I work with were equally disappointed with the food and service, we all left feeling let down. The staff seemed uninterested and barely attentive. Overall, it feels like the restaurant has lost its touch. We won’t be coming back! Better to go NWT Brewery if you want to try some local fish!

Ordered the Arctic Char as I’ve heard from multiple sources that the fish is top notch at this kitchen. I got served complementary homemade bread as an appetizer. Fish arrived and as I was told, I better be hungry because the portion sizes are large. This is my first time trying char and it was great! I’m used to eating salmon as I am from BC and the char was similar. The fries and salad were great as well. The atmosphere is pleasant, the cook took time to engage in a conversation with me which was great because I can be anti-social at times. The walls in this place is covered in writing and stickers from customers passing thru. I wouldn’t hesitate to come and try another dish if I were to pass thru Yellowknife again.

Everything is very good, but I didn't like the attention I received, they were rude to my mom who is 70 years old and didn't speak the language and in the end they charged us 30 dollars more unfairly for a dish that we didn't ask for and we didn't look at when it came to paying

The clerk patiently explained that you should first choose the type of fish and then the cooking method. French fries and lettuce can be served half and half. Vegetable salad dressing is very refreshing and delicious It is recommended that two people share the meal. If there are more than one person, you can choose to share different flavors.

This used to be my favorite spot growing up and one of the reasons I return home every year. I've loved bullocks since I was a kid back in their original location. Unfortunately the original owner sold it and it's just not as good anymore. I likely won't return again which is such a shame.
A must try when in old Town. White fish plate and a beer, is quite a treat.

The grilled and fried fish are really delicious and there are no fish bones at all. It's just that the smell of oil smoke in the store is really strong.

The atmosphere was uncomfortable—while trying to enjoy your meal, a staff member was yelling at other customers, which made it hard to relax. On top of that, the staff was unprofessional and unwelcoming, with no effort to check in on your experience. I understand they were busy, but given the price and the restaurant’s reputation, hiring more (and better) servers would be a great solution.

Called to make a September reservation ( for 12 people) in June, I was told it was too early called in July same story. Called in August. Couldn’t get the date or time I wanted. Was clearly told I could have a 7:15 pm reservation. Stopped by the Saturday before to confirm my reservation. I was told was good. Showed up at 7:15 a tour bus arrived seconds before. Our reservation was not honoured. So I had a group of 12 people from across Canada involved in the tourism who were turned away. I will not support Bullocks again. They aren’t loyal to locals why should locals be loyal to them!!
