Came here for lunch. I had the green onion noodles with the marinated egg and bbq pork. The sauce was salty and flavourful, I’ll definitely be back for this dish again! Staff as well is so friendly. Thanks Cai’s!

We popped by an hour before closing and they were super nice to accommodate us. Inside is very cosy, very full of boxes and random supplies and freezers. Already I felt like it was a legit Chinese restaurant 😂
We ordered the braised pork belly and the Beijing noodles. I have zero complaints, the food was so good. The pork belly jiggled and absolutely melted in your month. The noodles had good texture and a generous amount of pork and cucumber. We had enough to take leftovers for the next day.
I would definitely recommend this place to satisfy Asian food cravings while in Yellowknife.

Totally love it! The first time I came to Huangdao, I discovered this Chinese restaurant in the hotel and tried it. The first time I ate, I was completely warmed up. The walls were covered with cute paintings by the owner’s daughter. It totally gave me the feeling of a home kitchen. The portion size of each dish Very filling and delicious, especially the sweet and sour fish and wonton soup. The most impressive thing about this trip to Huangdao is meeting everyone at Cai's Kitchen. Being warmly received by you and playing with you left a very beautiful and wonderful experience in my heart. If you come to Huangdao, please come to Cai. Sit in the kitchen, admire the little sister's painting exhibition, and then chat with the shop assistants, brothers, sisters, or the boss ladies. They are all so kind and cute! This is what traveling is all about! Cai’s Kitchen is the best!!!💗💗💗

I don't know why the Google rating is high
The condition of the restaurant and the taste of the food were not worthy of even 1 star.
The fried dumplings had a foul smell, the mapo tofu sauce had a taste and smell I had never experienced before, and the wonton noodles had a strange smell and taste of seasoning.
It was truly the worst restaurant in Yellowknife.

Based on all the high reviews this may have been an exception to the food that is normally produced from this place. We picked up food with great expectations to be seriously disappointed. The stir fried rice and noodles tasted terrible so chose not to eat these at all and the deep fried dumplings were very chewy. 2 stars because service was great.

It is indeed very satisfying to be able to eat authentic home-cooked food in this small town with poor supplies. The hot yak tongue tastes great! I was also impressed by the beef burrito! The rest of the dishes were almost sold out before I had time to take pictures. The proprietress was warm and kind, and I felt very at ease eating here.

It is said that there are many Chinese in Yellowknife, so Chinese food is not difficult to get. I had a meal of Chinese food in the city that day and it was quite delicious.
It has been five years since Cai's Kitchen opened, and it has survived the hard three years of the epidemic. The proprietress is a friendly person and an enthusiastic figure in the Chinese community in Yellowknife.
I ordered beef and scallion noodles, and my son ordered twice-cooked pork. The beef is well braised and cuts into shreds, which goes very well with the green onion flavor of the noodles. The twice-cooked pork does not change its greasy nature, and the taste is okay, but the presentation on the plate is a bit rough.
The boss lady recommended a game, and I chose spicy stir-fried Canadian red venison. The red deer meat I have eaten in the past has been cooked in Western style, but this is the first time I stir-fried it in Chinese style with chili. The meat is soft but tough and goes well with rice. Just a plate of meat costs $45, which I think is a bit high.
