I don't exactly care for their new ordering system. It requires the use of your cell phone to place an order. How do you expect people to tip before knowing the service? I visited with my wife and infant. The place has very poor ventilation, and the fryer smoke constantly filled the dining area to the point where I was coughing and eyes were burning. Remember how I said you ordered on your cell? How can I order a glass of water when I'm dying from smoke inhalation?! I felt bad for my little one, and ended up going for a quick walk out in the cold to let him get some fresh air. It's a shame because the food is really good. I had the schnitzel burger and fries. Another downside to Elke's is that they lack variety for those who don't eat pork. No chicken schnitzel, or vegetarian options. We ordered the Buttercream cake, and was told the last slice was already sold. They replaced it with a peach cobbler, which tasted flavorless and doughy. Was very disappointed with dessert after a good schnitzel. Waited approx 45 minutes after ordering until food arrived. Small dining area. Reservations recommended for dinner service. Street parking only. Bring an oxygen tank if you plan on eating here, the schnitzels are tasty, and the coffee is from a proper espresso machine. If my review helps, please leave me a ? Cheers ?Vegetarian options: None. Pork forward menu.Kid-friendliness: No highchairs, or booster seats.

Some of the best food I've ever eaten. Service was great, food came out in good time and was amazing fresh and delicious. Portion size was awesome, I the dish was 27$ which included the tip but I saved half for later so about 13.50 per portion is great in my opinion.

The restaurant is very family-friendly and the ordering and payment system is via your cell phone, using a QR code. The family is kind and polite. The food is well served and delicious.

There are a lot of suggestions regarding the tips below, but if you look closely, you can freely choose the tips. The apply button is faint, so you might miss it.anyway! This place feels like home cooking, but it’s so delicious! In particular, Jägerschnitzel (schnitzel topped with plenty of sauces such as mushrooms, etc.) + Slow Roasted Beef (the reason I ordered beef - I couldn't order pork because it was out of stock, but it ended up being a good choice haha) + I think I drank all kinds of NWT beer... Haha, if I had known the food would be this delicious, I would have given the highest tip when paying. It's really, really good.

Showed open on google only to be disappointed at the actual restaurant which had a sign outside that it’s closed till Feb 19. Too bad we missed the food

Representative menu items: schnitzel and OlympiaThe schnitzel is delicious but a bit greasy.Olympia is delicious, but the sauce is very salty. It seems a little saltier than the average food in this region. As seen in the reviews, it is a system where you take a QR and pay for the order directly. The minimum tip is 15%.As others have said, tips are given without service.I'm very puzzledIs it because there are a lot of fried dishes? The small room was filled with the smell of fried oil.It hurts my eyesI'm seriously worried about the health of the person who cooks.

Of all the places we ate in Yellowknife this was by far our favorite! Shania is a sweetheart and carries her mother’s legacy of cooking great food with love and pride. Not to miss!

This was a very pleasant and delicious experience. The food was a mix of German and Mediterranean - and it worked so well! As a one person operation , the service there was spectacular. I had the fish of the day which was pan fried and one of the best fish I’d ever had. The ambiance was welcoming and warm, and had enjoyable German music playing.

You must order food and pay directly using the barcode. You have to bring your own drinks and water and clean up the dishes after you finish eating, but a tip is compulsorily collected when paying. If you do not receive any service but do not choose to tip, a 20% tip is mandatory. A restaurant where I don't understand the idea of leaving a tip when there is no service received.

One of the best fries I've had in my life ?I had a little schnitzel problem and it was kinda hard in a couple spots, but it was a good burger, also they have a killer tartar sauce ?

Cozy little restaurant where you can savour German cuisine in Yellowknife! The Jägerschnitzel (Pork schnitzel topped with homemade mushroom sauce) was delicious! The ambiance was great with German tunes playing.I liked that I could order my meal directly by scanning a QR code, so I could take my time to choose what I wanted, and I was quickly served by the cook and owner. Some might find this odd, but it's great ingenuity in 2023!Good luck and prosperity to Shania, I will definitely come back!Prost!

Great old fashioned dining experience. The restaurant is the front of an older home, and it's a perfect complement to the food. The menu is accessed from the table, and you order from your phone. Someone will greet you when you come in, the rest is up to you. There was a mix of German and Mediterranean fair. Don't expect anything over-the-top and pretentious...this is good simple food perfectly prepared and with generous portions. The potato salad is worth the extra.

My daughter absolutely loves this place but she had only had takeout before I arrived. We stayed at the tables out front and I was more than surprised to find the staff do not come and visit your table to take your order or even greet you. They only accept orders through an app which didn't work for us so we had to walk inside to talk to the staff who were not thrilled to see us.You can see in the photos I have attached that they go so far as to formally request that you clear your own table.I noted that one potential customer arrived and sat at one table for 3 or 4 minutes before moving to another table for 3 or 4 minutes and then he just got up and left presumably because no one came out to ask him what he wanted or provide even water. The experience definitely left something to be desired but the locals seem to love it including my daughter.Personally I found the food to be fine but nothing to rave about. In total I think this place is a solid 3 out of five meaning that it is just fine if you want to be left alone.
