I was disappointed they were out of Arctic Char. But everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.

There were a few things off the menu when I was ordering at 6 pm. However, there was enough left on the menu to pique my interest. Food is prepared and presented at a higher level than most restaurants. Seasoning was perfect, as was the cook on my Ribeye. My server was professional and knew exactly what was off the menu and made sure I understood before she left. I enjoyed the meal.

We were at the restaurant for dinner. Upon walking in, we waited at the counter to be seated. There was another group of guests behind us in the queue. When the host came over to the counter, the guests behind us jumped in front of us to talk to the host. The host did not even make an effort to see who arrived first. He took them in right away. When the host came back, we told him what happened and he tried to blame it on us. Really disappointed and frustrated on how they handled this. Very unprofessional

We stayed at The Explorer Hotel for 5 nights.
We ate breakfast and dinner at their Traders Grill EVERY day. I didn't provide pictures but I think we tried everything on the dinner menu. I recommend everything. Favorites were the bison ribs and Cornish hen, the lasagna and the peach cobbler. Fair prices for the quality of food.
We ate from the breakfast buffet although we were offered a menu for cooked to order options. The buffet was very good. Scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, oatmeal, fresh fruits, pastries. Very nice e selection.
My big like was the entire wait staff. After one night they all greeted us by name. Our all time, new friend, Judith :), was beyond awesome. With special mention to Ernel! One overly busy night, we watched a tremendous crew do a perfect dance of helping where needed while keeping every customer happy. I recommend The Trader's Grill. Bye Judith...hope we see you again.

Dinner service on a Saturday night:
Took about ten minutes waiting at the front before we were even acknowledged but when we were finally noticed we were seated and our server Nicole was very helpful and friendly.
I had a rib eye steak which was perfectly cooked and very tender and tasty. The mashed potatoes were a bit bland though.
My wife had the rabbit pancetta carbonara which was pretty good.
We shared an apple tart and ice cream dessert drizzled with caramel which was delicious!
We went back the next morning for Sunday brunch service as we stayed overnight at the Explorer hotel.
The foods that had faster turnover (lamb chops, roasted chicken, potatoes au gratin, smoked salmon, mussels) were all very good. These were more “high value” dishes I’m guessing with lots of people lining up and going back for second servings.
However, some of the foods that were not as popular (very few people lined up for them) like the eggs Benedict. French toast, and staples like sausage and bacon were not adequately heated as they tended to sit there for long periods of time. So these dishes were basically lukewarm at best and cold, at worst.
And the roast bison, although unique, was very dry, although the sauce added to it was flavourful .
So the food was somewhat uneven with some highlights and some disappointments. Service was very good when we were seated.
Overall, it’s a beautiful restaurant with nice ambiance, and with a few tweaks it can be a stellar experience!

Got to the hotel at 8:15 and was told the restaurant was open until 9…
Put the bags upstairs and they say say at 8:40 they can’t take a order…
Make other plans next time.

I asked for my steak to be cooked medium rare, but it looks well done and tastes very dry.

I had the salad with grilled chicken and two glasses of wine. The salad was very fresh. Grilled chicken was served cold...I prefer hot but I know that many restaurants place cold chicken on salad so the lettuce does not wilt as it's a cold dish. The option of hot or cold would be nice in the future but it was a pleasant meal and the serving staff were excellent.
Vegetarian options: There were options on the menu.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free and vegetarian options were indicated on the menu. I believe they will adjust food for allergies

I'd rather starve to death than eat here for dinner again. The steak quality is worse than that of Denny's. Frankly, McDonald's puts better beef in their hamburgers and don't charge you $50 for it. Save your money and time.
