After hearing Teppanyaki hailed as a local favorite, we finally made our way in—and it turns out, the buzz is well-earned. This was one of the last few restaurants we had yet to try since moving to Elko, and it delivered a satisfying surprise.

🍜 The Food
I opted for the tofu and vegetables over noodles with their signature Teppanyaki sauce. The vegetables were cooked just right—tender with a bit of bite—and the tofu was impressively seasoned. My husband had the chicken entrée with rice and vegetables, both generous and flavorful. Each dish came with what they called “egg rolls,” though they were actually spring rolls—crispy, light, and a pleasant addition.

💁‍♀️ The Service
Service was prompt and friendly. Our server was attentive and kind, though we couldn’t catch her name—no name tag in sight. If management reads this, please pass along our thanks to the young woman working the evening shift on September 23rd —she made our visit smooth and welcoming.

🧼 Housekeeping Note
One small but important observation: the host/order taker/cashier/expeditor also handled bussing duties. While multitasking is commendable, we noticed the same towel was used to wipe the seats first, then the tabletops. For the sake of food safety and guest health, we’d like to gently flag this practice.

According to Sani-safe guidelines from Stericycle:
“Wiping seats with the same cloth used for a food preparation or dining surface can transfer germs like E. coli and Salmonella from the chair to the table.”
“Seats come into contact with clothing and hands, which can introduce bacteria and viruses that aren't typically present on tabletops. Wiping them separately ensures that germs from the seats are not transferred to surfaces where food is served.”

We share this not as criticism, but as a community-minded reminder. Teppanyaki has earned its place among Elko’s favorites, and with a few tweaks, it can continue to shine even brighter.

I have never had a loco moco with frozen pre-made beef patties served with what taste like canned gravy. Very disappointed took 2 bites and threw it away. Giving 2 stars because it’s hard to mess up spam musubi. (The musubi was good!!!)
I wouldn’t recommend the loco moco to anyone that has had a loco moco!!!

I was told that Teppanyaki usually has a grill that you watch them cook. This was a small restaurant like a taco Bell.

It’s hard to get healthy, delicious food with fresh vegetables when stopping for a quick lunch on road trips and we’re so glad we found this place! We ordered the chicken and steak teppenyakis with fried rice. So delicious!! Next time though I would tell them how to cook my steak. I prefer it more undercooked. Would definitely come back!!

Outstanding food. Easily my favorite place in Elko now. I was blown away with the flavor and it was a substantial amount of food at a very reasonable price. Going back as often as I pass through Elko.

4.5 stars? This is a fast food Japanese place, nothing to rave about, food was mediocre at best. Who could eat that many noodles? Perhaps they are trying to make up for the lack of flavor quantity.
